How many spinners here produce their own fiber?

I raise German Angora rabbits and spin their fiber into yarn, but I also obtain wool, alpaca and other fiber from other small producers. And I spin a lot of silk. How many of you produce your own fiber? Do you produce just for yourself or do you sell some? Do you like to experiment with other fibers, even though you produce your own?

I have never done anything like that Greenberry, but the idea of it is awesome. It makes me think of our ancestors. Anything that takes me back to basics and trying to do things like they did it, like spinning their own yarn, is just awesome. I think maybe I should have lived back then.

I think the connection to the past is part of why I am a hand spinner. And there is nothing like working with your own fiber!

I bet it's a lot of self therapy isn't it. It sounds so much like fun I wish I had time to try it. Might be something I will write about.

wow!!it's great to know that you are so good in spinning yarn. That too all delicate stuff--angora,wool,silk....great!! Here in India many people, particularly the older generation spins Khadi fibre, owing to the teachings of our great Father,Mahatma Gandhi.I find Khadi a very good material for summers. But our younger generation is not much into it.if i get a chance,i would like to learn spinning different kinds of fibres.:)
