My oldest daughter and me have a special code word so if she is at a friends house she can say that word and I will come and get her no questions asked until we get home. I encourage other moms to do the same.

Thanks for this post. I think that that is a great idea! I will have to remember this for when my daughter gets older.

I think this is an EXCELLENT idea and I've discussed doing the same with my boys!! This gives them the confidence to know that you'll be there for them and bail them out of a difficult or even dangerous situation without making them "lose face" in front of their peers! I also encourage them to feel free to blame it entirely on me! Go ahead and tell your peers "yeah, my mom's a real &%(% and made me leave"! I care much more for protecting my children by any means necessary then having their friends think I'm the cool mom!!

This is an excellent idea. I think I will have to talk to my daughter about this. She's only 5 now so I don't allow her to go to a lot of peoples houses mostly my in laws. :) Thanks for the great idea and for sharing.

That is a very good idea. When my daughters get older I'll have to do the same. I've never thought about doing that.

This is a fab idea! My mom and I never had 'code' words but when on the phone with my mom she always asked me questions i could just give yes/no answers to so that I could tell her things without my friends knowing.
