Is it time to panic?

April 30, 2007 5:17pm CST
OK what is there to panic about i hear you ask... well how about the impending end of the world. I'm being serious here people the world is going weird and there is only one explanation it must mean the end of the world. Firstly theres the little matter of the earthquake in kent (considering we are about 2000 miles from the nearest fault line this is far from ordinary). Secondly there is the weather, it appears to be backwards, here in England the sun has been shining for the last 3 weeks and is set to continue for at least the next week. THE SUN NEVER SHINES CONSISTENTLY FOR A MONTH! (we are usually happy if good weather lasts for 3 days). Thirdly the ghost that lives in the room upstairs has left (indicating it has left this earth for some reason). Think about it, what other weird things have been happening? i haven't even got onto the fact that my train was on time today (that has never happened before and can only indicate a breakdown in the very fabric of existence which is making such unpredictable behaviour).

wow, that was depressing lol! is it possible you might be overreacting? i mean maybe its a good sign. ya know? things are looking up. sunny days, punctual transportation, no more scary ghosts in the attic. ( whats with that anyway? are you kidding? im genuinely curious lol) sounds good to me! lol

Your obviously not english are you. Firstly although good weather is nice it poses a dilemna, it is English custom to talk constantly about the weather if it is always sunny there is nothing to talk about. We also enjoy complaining about the ineptitude of our public transport system, it gives us a sense of togetherness (us against the train companies) By these two things being removed from daily life the eventual result will be anarchy and we will end up destroying ourselves. The ghost thing is just a little odd, i'm starting to get conv=cerned about the poor guy, there must be a reason for him having left, but i can't think what

no, im not english, and people where im from obsess about the weather also, if you were where i was from, you'd see what im saying. we rarely have a long string of beautiful days and people crab about it all the time, but if we did, i don't think we say the world was ending. we would get our sunscreen and head for the pools. however thank you teaching me something about the English. i didn't know weather and trains were so important to you all. and yes, the ghost thing is odd. i'm waiting to hear about that.

First stop breath and RELAX!! It's ok, the weird weather has happend before, maybe even before you were born, the earth is a very unusual and mysterious place. Maybe the ghost left because it finally found it's way home, and maybe things are getting better for other reasons. It has NOTHING to do with the end of the world being near. Sometimes life brings many surprises, which is fine, you don't have to worry too much. It will be ok. Just enjoy the changes for now, in time as it always happens things will get back to "normal" You will be ok.

Well i hope so, all this good weather means i've had nothing to moan about. Then i had to get the train and i was happy because the trains are always rubbish, and ehat do they go and do? they go and be on time, now what am i supposed to moan about

If I were you I would have been panicking about the ghost BEING in the room upstairs never mind it leaving! Earthquakes are not unknown in the UK and earth tremors are actually fairly common but most of the time they are so slight we barely notice them. I heard someone on the radio say the Kent Earthquake was due to some rocks shifting in the Straits of Dover (or something like that). I don't think you need to be near a known fault line to experience an earthquake anyway. As for the weather it might be sunny in England but it's not here in Scotland - well not where I am anyway - so it's the usual spring weather for us I'm afraid. Now the train being on time - that's spooky!

Oh i'm sorry that Scotland sucks. and yeah i know we get earthquakes but it made for a more interesting discussion. Now i don't think anyone could explain the trains, and the ghost doesn't bother me so i was always happy for him to live upstairs

panic, not so much, I can recall when I was in grade 10 so I would have been 15-16, and we were read a news article about the youth of the country and how badly they misbehaved and where were their manners and how their parents were at their wits end because of all the conflict and strife that was not only going on in the family but in the very day world weather disasters and odd things being witnessed, and this article went on for some time. Now when i read this it would have been 49 years ago, and at that time I thought the same noting has changed, then the teacher who gave us the article to read asked us if we could identify who might have written it and when, we said sure some old fogies in their 30'ts and it was written with in a month of our reading it, Not so much the author was Aristotle and it was written about the ancient Greeks. That being said I agree we have treated this old planet very badly and need to take far more care or their will be no future, Just of interest when I was a child my father was a coal miner and to him it was just about the end of the world, he couldn't see it ever surviving with out coal to make electricity just like it had for the past 150 years. So I believe that each generation does its own damage and in turn must make adjustments with our natural resources.

You are quite right the world is about to end I'm pretty sure of it. But it's not time to panic it's time to get right after years and years of Holy rollers screaming the world is about to end the time has finally come. We are in the last 42 year period according to the charts where the world will end suddenly in December the day is unknown but with all the daylight savings times and everything we are off by about three months. We celebrate New Years in January but it is actually in March by the way that is if Jesus decides to come back early for the sake of man or there will not be anyone left. If not the time period will be in 2017 the nine years is the time frame we believe because of all the past occurrences. I have a gentleman who explains it much better than I can but I did manage to keep the basics. He did the chart with me which shows from the time the earth was created till now. It's time for man to get his heart right with God.

The world is simply going back to normal. Like look at it, what do we know from the Earth? From like 4.5 billion years ago till 10.000 years ago we have had massive ice ages, climate switches causing temperature differences of over 50 degrees within a year in certain areas and we rarely have had any earthquakes, volcano eruptions, tropical storms, etc compared to what we have found from findings dating back to the period before 10k years ago. So is our situation now normal? It most definitely is not, and Earth is simply going back to the harsh planet is used to be, rather than the stable situation it has now. Most likely there is nothing at all we can do to stop it, perhaps slow it down a little. But we always like to think of our grand children here, yet we do not realize that we're simply pushing it off to our grand children's grand children in stead. Hell if it would even take that long for the first massive clime switch to come through. I personally wouldn't it give more than 25 years.

Are you serious? you must have had earthquake somewhere in England sometime ago, so why the panic now? The sun I can understand, I hate it here since there is less sun than in my homeland. My husband hates it there since he gets sunburn no matter how strong the anti UV lotion is. Train on time? I thought you people are the ones who said Time is Money :) well aren't you happy no money is wasted this time! What do you mean the ghost left? I'm still here I just got other things to do :)

I'd say the ghost upstairs is taking a rest of as someone else said, he has found his way out of this world. As for the weather, the weather has been strange everywhere. There are a number of factors affecting the weather, but I wouldn't say the world is going to end anytime soon. Just enjoy the sunny weather, but don't forget the sunscreen :) The weather here in the US gets rather rocky at times. It will rain for days on end and flood in many places, it will be extremely warm one day and snowing the next. We had very hot days earlier this month and then it snowed for a couple of days after that. That's odd for April, but not unheard of. We had tornado warnings last week and some actually touched down. It does make one wonder at times though when the weather starts getting freaky and transportation systems begin running on time. We don't have a train system in my town, but I've heard many say getting a cab is like pulling teeth. Now, they are talking about starting a bus system to make traveling across town easier, but I'm sure there will be issues. :)

Perhaps the ghost likes you so much he decided to follow you outside the house and frightened the train driver so that you would get a move on as he was bored at the station. Your ghost hasn't been digging in Kent causing earthquakes has he? Sounds a tricky one. I hope he returns to your house soon and stops causing such mayhem.

Sheez... A little change in the weather, a few coincidences, a few unprovable fact (ghost and stuff) and the world is ending. And not to mention that this only happened in UK. There's a war in Iraq. Now if an Iraqi made the same claim, I'll understand. The world is probably indeed ending for them. I think that you're making too much of these incidences. And to apply happenings in your immediate environment to the world, I think that's a little too much of a stretch. Now I would really believe if your post made use of global warming, of nuclear wars, of global pandemics. I would even support your argument. But to talk about traffic and punctuality and ghost? uh...

Besides the earth quake, all else does not sound bad. You have sunny days...that should brighten up people's moods. The spirit moved on to the next realm...wouldn't you want him or her to find peace? And the train was on time??? LOL Maybe they hired a new driver and he or she has a pet peeve of being late. All is not lost. Think positive. Otherwise, I suggest that you assume crash position in the corner and start repeating to yourself, "There's no place like home!" ha ha
