Is anyone on here in the agricultural sector? Do we have any farmers of animals fruits, veggies, crops, etc...? Did anyone grow up on a farm? I just thought I would ask because it seems like a lot of the Mylotters ehre are city folks. I was born and raised in the country on a farm. I worked on my grandfather, uncles, and my parents farm. I ahve done hay (square bales) I have cleaned manure with a shovel and a wheelbarrow, I have fed cows, I was the farm vet for sick or pregnant cows, etc... I loved this. I would love to be a farmer. I would love to have a dairy farm and have 80 to 100 jersey cattle and ship cream but here in Canada it is way too hard to have a farm. It costs way too much for a start up for cattle, land, quota, inspection, etc.... What is farming like in your country, are there strict regulations?

I wasn't born on a farm, but I was brought up in the country and both my Grandad and my Dad kept chickens. I used to go out and collect the eggs every morning and whenever they asked me to during the day. I enjoyed that. My Grandad also grew a lot of fruit bushes, and a quince tree, and he used to hand me a trug and ask me to go pick for him. It was great fun, and I would have loved to have lived on a farm. Brightest Blessings my friend.

ThanX for the response! But may I ask, what is a Quince tree? I don't think we have these in Canada or maybe we do and I'm just ignorant to it...

Quinces are a difficult fruit to describe but I'll try. lol. It's a pear shaped fruit, smaller than an actual pear and it has quite a tough skin on occasions, but if allowed to ripen, it becomes a browny orange colour, and is great for making chutney and jams. Does that help?

I would love to try one of these, can you just pick peel and eat? Or are they only for jams and the such? I'[m definitely going to look for this in the supermarket and farmers markets in my area. ThanX!

I also grew up in a relatively rural setting, though not on a farm. I know my grandfather kept a number of animals at one point or another, though I don't think he was ever a serious farmer. A number of my friends growing up were farm children, though, so I'm fairly familiar with the lifestyle.
