Where is a good place that I can purchase a bird bath?

I am thinking about getting a bird bath to put in my back yard for them to enjoy. I love birds very much and want to help them. I am also thinking about getting a bird feeder too. My parents have always been into birds and I love bluejays and cardinals the most. What store has good bird baths? How many types of bird baths are there out there and are they hard to clean? I tried going to Petco in my area and they only had one bird bath and that was for the winter season.

Lowes and Home Depot both carry bird baths. Walmart even has them. If you purchase the lighter "plastic" versions, you can weight them down so they don't blow over. Cleaning them depends on your area. We often have enough rain to wash ours out but when we don't a quick scrub with a sponge mop and fresh water seems to be just fine. You do have to be careful using any chemicals to be sure it's rinsed out well though. Using a little vinegar can help remove any "build up" or slime that tends to come from water sitting.

That is something that I do want to consider is getting one that will not blow away. My parents have a stone one but they say cleaning it is very difficult so I want something that is easy to clean. I will see what Walmart has as well.

I would tell you Old Time Pottery has bird baths for very competitive prices. But if you get one from them...be sure that you bring the bird bath and feeder in during the winter. ha ha Because if any water gets in them and then freezes, they will break from the water freezing and expanding. Other than that...if you do not have an Old Time Pottery near you...you could try Garden Ridge. Then if all else fails, try Home Depot or Lowe's. :) Personally, I like checking out Home Depot and Lowe's because they will have what is new and Old Time Pottery will have the buy out stock from last year. But that is also what makes it cheaper. You home improvement stores will have high quality...but they will also be priced slightly higher. Best bet, watch their sales! :) Good luck! I love bird baths and feeders!

I have not heard of Old Time Pottery. I will certainly consider Home Depot and Lowes or Ebay like another member stated. Hopefully I can get one soon with the weather getting warmer.

Hi Joy. I am doing okay. The last few days have not been quite as bad health wise though I still ache. I am seeing the doctor in the morning to find out what is going on with my neck and/or other areas. I will post a topic about what is happening tomorrow when I get home. Petco only had one bird bath and it was for the winter season. Thank you for your suggestion.

That is nice that you have had one for years and love it. I think it is nice too to see them enjoying a nice bath and cooling off when it is hot outside. Where did you get your bird bath from or did you make it?

I would try Home Depot or Lowe's if you have either of those stores near you. If they don't carry bird baths, then try a garden center. Also, check online by googling bird baths and see if you can order one online. Some websites offer free shipping. I would imagine that you would have to clean out the bird bath regularly to keep it from collecting bacteria. Also, stagnant water draws mosquitos so be careful to keep it away from your home.

We do have Home Depot and Lowes so I will check them out and see what they have to offer. I am sure they would involve cleaning regularly so the birds will stay healthy. Very good point about the mosquitoes as that is another thing to keep in mind as well as birds making a mess near my home. I am sure that I can find something at one of these stores or online. None of my neighbors do anything for the birds so I want to do something for them. :-)

Do you have a home depot where you live? The outside nursery sells a lot to choose from. Or, try another nursery.

i do have a Home Depot not too far away from me and will check them out as well. One of my friends also recommended some websites I could order from and they have nice ones too. Thank you for recommending Home Depot. I tried Lowes already but they had very little to choose from.

Well, I hope you got one that you're looking for right now. I don't know much about bird baths at all. I love birds, I just don't see myself getting them on my yard and stuff.

I just posted a discussion on the bird bath that my husband made for me. You may be able to make one and it will last forever as well as being cheaper than a commercial one. Here is the link to my discussion: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1080158.aspx?p=2 I hope this will inspire you to make one for yourself. Good luck

I did see your post but it was after I had ordered a bird bath from Amazon.com A homemade bird bath sounds really good but I am not good at building things. How hard is it to make one? Maybe I will try eventually to make a birdbath. Does your husband make bird feeders as well?

I am moving my bird bath to another location as squirrels are now jumping from my bird bath up onto my bird feeder and eating a lot of the food. I just witnessed one doing that today so I moved my bird bath further away. LOL Bad squirrels! Bad! Bad! LOL
