Is it wrong to dedicate yourself to earn more money? I mean not in a possessive way. Say earning more money is a hobby to me. i like to learn the way to look for opportunities, learn marketing, learn selling, learn to manage a business. Some people dedicate their life to their love ones, some dedicate theirs to collect stamps, X-games, climbing highest mountain, being healthy, bodybuilding. What do you think, is dedicating your life to earn more money wrong? because some say "money is the root of all evil" you be the judge.....

Well what one wishes to do in his/her life is upto them and thier is nothing wrong with it as long as they do not negatively effect other people by doing it.. So spending your time with your loved ones is great if that is what you wanna do, or spending most of your time working is also ok if that is what you wanna do... But yet, we have a saying from where I come from is that the best thing to do is be moderate

hi all, based on all the response in here. a few things can be said: 1) dedicate means to commit to a goal ( i read in in some dictionary). hopefully we do not do it obsessively. some say do it in moderation 2) we mention hobby, meaning we are doing what we like, again, hopefully don't over do it. 3) in life we have some other very important things too. and it goes hand in hand. i put a list below (not in any particular order) a) health b) money / finance c) career d) family e) friends f) love one / partner / your other half / wife / husband good luck to all, and bless all in every steps that we take... :D

It is seeming to me from your response that you enjoy to find out new ways to earn more money. So it is not at all wrong the way you have dedicated your life to money. If earning money is your favourite work then you should do it as we all should do whatever we love to do in life. What are the other things you like to do besides earning money?

i'm actually a programmer, major in multimedia. but i have no talent in graphics or design. hahahaha. during my free time, i like to read, do sports (gym, golf, basketball, aikido). definately love being with my family. I read alot of self-help books, management, selling, retail management, investment, health books and definately I.T related you see, i work fulltime as a System Analyst with a Palm Oil Company. Consulting and developing systems in-house as well as accepting other projects. Then i have my own company as an I.T Solution provider where we again, develop system and provide other I.T Solutions (CCTV, server, satelites, HR system, Payroll, etc). and now, i'm looking into internet marketing, hehehehe... well i'm doing it as part-time anyway. i work at least or around 8 to 12 hours almost every day. but i do manage to spend time with my love ones and my other interest. On the other hand, my other half is working as well, so i guess, she's not complaining... heheheh

You are misleading in many ways. What do u mean by dedicating a life to? If u mean that when u dedicated your life you dont do anything lese , then thats wrong, its not that when u dedicate your life to your company then you forget about your family and kids. Many things in life go hand in hand, you just cant make any one most important and other one down the list. As far as earing money is concerned i think its nothing wrong to dedicate you r life to earn money, but take care that you enjoy all that hard earned money before you die..!!

As long as it is a dedication which doesn't lead to obsessive behavior there is nothing wrong with it. Personally I would never set money as a top priority in life though but more or less see it as this convenient extra gained for what I would like doing. But I suppose if earning money is what you like doing it simply works the other way around. What you are doing would be the convenient extra if you like it along with your love for earning money.

thanks psychodude... i read somewhere that most time our list in life are: (not in any particular order) 1) family 2) friends 3) money 4) love one 5) career we just re-arrange it according to our preference. Honestly, money is not on top of my list too... cheers....... :d

The correct quote is the "love of money..." I think you will find your dedication misplaced if money is your goal. I think you need to have a higher purpose than money. A simple way to have more money is to be of service to more people. Be a problem solver and people will be eager to give you money. Chasing money is like chasing your shadow.

thanks. you put it nicely. i especially like the last two sentences - "a simple way to have more money is to be of service to more people. be a problem solver and...; chasing money is like chasing your shadow." okay i lied, it's actually 3 sentences... :D

i think there is nothing wrong in earning money... but if you are so obsessed in earning money and with a wrong motivation, then it is definitely wrong... i completely agree with the saying "money is the root of all evil". i believe that and it is so true... so many bad things happen just because of money...

Actually the full expression is "the love of money is the root of all evil." And if you went about it in the most altruistic fashion you could turn out to be a very enterprising and and helpful individual. You see, there are really only two ways to acquire money (if we eliminate stealing and other nefarious methods)and that is by the selling of goods and/or services and by investing, thus having our money make money for us. So, if in your hobby/pursuit of finding more and better ways to earn money actually provides a needed service or product to a much-needed niche then you're actually doing society a favor. But, if you really want your money to work for you, and for society you need to keep on (re-)investing it.

It is not wrong for you to dedicate yourself onto earning money. it becomes wrong the moment you prioritize more time with it than of God and your family. the utmost thing to do is to put God at the top of your priorities next to your wife and your family. that's the only way to go. if you Have God in your life you will never be lost and confused. and i mean it your life will never be the same again.

I guess, that's why it's called hobby. Good Luck to All~~~~ :D

i think it's not wrong at all to dedicate yoursel to earn money. .to be frank with you.. i myself is a realistic person trying to earn more money.. and i think it's good to learn more.. i do know money is the root of all evil.. but without money.. can you actually survive in this world? i can't .. and i think without money.. there's no health... we can't help others.. and we barely can eat what we want to eat.. it's just like a trading.. we work for money.. and money get us luxury.. don't you think so? i think it's very fair as we didn't cheat anyone for money.. we work hard for it.. right? :)

The persuit of making money is not wrong. But maybe the dedication to may be. It depends on how you go about it. As you have said, there is more to life than just making money. So as long as your persuit of money is not disruptive to your other proirities and obligations it is ok. I think only those who do not have money say: 'money is the root of all evil'.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with dedicating yourself to earning more money. What does money do? It gives us the freedom to choose. In other words, if one doesn't have a lot of money, and they needed a vehicle, they might choose to purchase a used car. Whereas if the same person has a lot of money, they might choose a brand new Chrysler 300 C. Money only gives us the freedom of choice. What is wrong with that? About 5 years ago, I was in MAJOR debt. I decided that I had to do something. So, I bought some books on real estate and studied them. I was very scared to actually put the knowledge I now had into use. When I finally did, I ended up with over $250,000.00 in my bank account. I then had a choice of where I wanted to live, what I wanted to drive, etc. Now that the real estate market has bottomed out, I am, like you, only1idea, looking for other ways to make a lot of money. With me, things start out as a hobby and end up as a business. Do not get me wrong - my hobbies do not make the money that real estate investing does - but it helps. I wish you all the best in everything that you pursue. Thanks for reading!

not for me, I donĀ“t see nothing wrong in trying to increase your daily earniongs if you can do so, there are so many people out there that would do anything to get rich even murder, of course I dissaprove that behavior even fraud is so terrible, every honest way to get money for me is okay as long as it is not the only purpose in your life.

let me ask you one question, is earning money giving you reason to be an evil? if it does not then why should worry? there's nothing wrong with that as long as you know your limitations. Know where you stand. As long as you're not causing any harm to the people around you, you can still continue on what you are doing. Dedicating yourself in earning money is not wrong just be responsible in all your actions.

To me, I don't think dedicating yourself to earn more money is wrong. However, don't overdo it. Coz you can't earn enough money. Money is never enough! Spend time with your family and other things as well. I try to earn extra income too. One of my source is via myLot. Besides earning money, I get to read about others opinion and share my own experiences as well.

Well considering money is something that we all need to survive. I mean we have to buy food, water... We need to pay for homes, power, plumbing... We need to be able to support ourselves and our loved ones. Without money, you'd suffer. Just ask someone that doesn't have the money. Like me... I suffer because of it. I am on here, I am dedicating myself to find these ways. Work is easy to get when its fast food or whatever. My experiences with working in that field has literally worked me sick. Being a college student, that is not what I need. Making money is now a hobby of mine... I enjoy it, plus I am enabling myself to have some sort of an income.

No, not really, to be honest. I can't really support that with facts as it's just purely my opinion. However, what I can say is that money is a something to trade for something else. I don't see how that could be bad.
