What is your goal in life and what is your dream?

I am forty years old and still have not figured my goal out. Due to illness that became a prominent factor in my life eight years ago, two divorces, and two children my goals that I started out with in high school have never been accomplished. In fact, I do not even remember what they were any more. I have always dreamed though of being a successful writer. However, I believe at this point in my life that it may be a dream unfulfilled too.
Eight years ago I started nursing school after my second divorce. Shortly after that I was diagnosed as bipolar. I still attended college but struggled. Finally after two years the stress was too much and I had to take a break from school and change my major. A year and a half past before I went back and received my major as a paralegal but I now have found it next to impossible to find a job in the field. I have given up hope after two years of looking.
I feel now it is time to find another goal in life but I have no idea what it is. Something inside me yells there is still time to find one and it is necessary to my happiness to do it. Do you have a goal in life and a dream? Have you fulfilled your goal? Have you had a dream come true?

I have had many goals in my life, some were fulfilled, some were not. I wanted to be a professional musician at the start of my career and became one. But then work becamse less and less and I had to retrain as a therapist. I then did university courses on writing, but that I suppose you could say that I failed because I couldn't get anything published - but I found my writing skills help me on-line a lot and the courses were not wasted.
I currently practice Zen, but that is more of a life's discipline than a goal and I find more fulfilment from my meditation and helping others than anything else I have done. Like you there was always something yelling inside at me, and with Zen I really feel I have found it.
