Yesterday it was really hot here. It hit 93 degrees and I refused to turn on the air conditioner because it is just May. Well I work on my computer as many of you here do and while I was working my computer just turned off. I thought it was odd but turned it back on and started to work again and once again the computer went off. All night it did this. So I thought ok maybe I got a virus so I did a system restore and took it back to an earlier day and thought ok it should work. Nope it still went off. So I thought maybe it is just over heating. I got a fan and put it on the computer. Still it continued to go off. Well now this morning it is working fine. Hasn't turned off yet and I have been on it an hour. Do you have any idea what might have caused this? I had a new power supply put in about 6 months ago so that should be fine. I am just at a loss as to what it is. Please help if you have any ideas.

From the way that you discribed the problem it sounds to me like it was getting too hot, You could try installing a more powerful cooling fan and cpu cooler. Also I would still run a virus scan just to be safe.

By looking to your problem, I think you have problem with your CPU Cooling system. By your statement i think that you work a lot in your computer. So, You should have a Hard Disk cooler fan (recent has two fans). And It is really hot so you better put cooler fans in your casing.

same kinda thing happened to me too, some time ago, check the SMPS in the CPU, and even check the ups if u have any, may be the batterys life is over... in the SMPS check if the capaciters r burnt or not, might have happened cos over-heating, if so cahnge it soon.

Maybe it's because of the temperature. Or the computer is being overused. Try to rest the computer for awhile. ;) That happened to me a couple of times, and when I felt the CPU, it was so hot. So, i just let it rest for a few hours. :)
