Travelers: What's the Best Country You've Visited?

United States

Most of us, whether from the U.S. or other countries, have had the chance to travel to foreign countries. I have spent time in 7 countries, and it would be a close race for the title of "best" between 3: Greece for the history and scenic islands; Turkey for the history and warm people; and my favorite by a smidgen, Germany for the beer, brautwurst, clean cities and efficient transportation. So those of you that have traveled abroad, what are your favorite countries you've visited and why.

Hands down...Scotland! I didn't find the people rowdy, but generally zealous! Eidenbourough was fantastic. The last I visited there was 13 years ago and I was single. Next year, I get to take my family and see the sights again....I'm looking forward to going the the Tatoo! A very close second, was Thailand. The people were so polite, and I met many new friends that I still keep in contact with. To me, the food is much better in Thailand then Scotland...

Next year I get to go to England for a stint and will be going up to Scotland for sure. I've heard so many interesting things about Glasgow, and visited there, but didn't find it quite as interesting as Eidenbourough. Maybe because I visited there without an itinerary. I'll have to look into that city a little closer. BTW: Thanks for the best response!

Well, I have only been to Mexico and Jamaica. Since the only time I have ever been to Mexico was to see distant relatives that I don't care for and that don't care for me, we can safely say that Mexico is not my favorite place to visit. :) I adore Jamaica. The weather is great and the people are friendly. I loved it there. I could actually live there if I was filthy rich. If you don't have a lot of money, I don't think it would be very easy to get along there. But the country is absolutely beautiful.

I have been blessed to visit a lot of European countries as well as Canada, Mexico and Haiti. I have loved all of them! I love Italy for the art and history. I loved Switzerland for its incredible scenery. I could go on about all of them. But my very favorite of all, is Scotland. It just had it all for me, beauty, history and wonderful people. I felt very much at home there and long to go back for another visit.

There is something about every country I've visited that I've loved, but I've felt most at home in Ireland and England.....I feel like I could live there.
