To burn a dual layer DVD you must have a dual layer Burner. The difference between single layer and dual layer dvd is that in single layer as the name suggests, there is one layer on which you can write(4.5GB). Whereas on a dual layer DVD there are two layers of media on which you can write almost twice the amount of date (8-9 GB). And if you have a dual layer dual side DVD, you get a whooping 18GB on a single disk by using both sides of it.
The blue laser is yet to stabilize. If you have one of it you get 27GB on a single layer.
