My husbands birthday and fathers day are 1 day apart and he is getting me an amazing mothers day gift. I have no idea what to get him at all. Any ideas?

I think men are so hard to buy for. I know my man is. He can't wear jewelry at work for safety reasons so he never wears his wedding ring. He has never worn a watch. He's not into the computer - he just does what he has to do at work on it. He's not into photography and doesn't really watch much sports. He is a golf nut but I have bought enough golf shoes, shirts, balls and tees. It's getting as lame as getting daddy a tie. For Christmas I bought my husband tickets to a concert. We had never been to a concert together and it was at a casino so we had a real date night. He loved it. His birthday is near Mother's Day (next Monday) so I have both his birthday and Father's Day to contend with as well. So far all I have bought him is a CD. The guy doesn't even read books either. I bought him tickets to another concert for his birthday and then realized we can't go because it's our daughter's grade 8 graduation so now I have to try and sell them on ebay. Hopefully I'll make more than I bought them for. I'm sick of buying him clothes so I'm looking for suggestions too.

I know you said you said your hubby doesn't read books but does he read magazines? Maybe you could get him a subscription to some golfing magazine or even another magazine he reads regularly. Does he like camping? Their are plenty of little things you could buy for men that like camping (check out rei.com or L.L.bean.com). Even guys that don't camp like getting things like mag lights (flashlights) or a Leatherman tool (which is similar to a swiss army knife only they are a bit nicer in my opinion). I bought my dad an emergency radio which runs on batteries or from the hand crank from L.L.bean which he loves and uses every day at his office (so much for an emergency). L.L. Bean sells really nice moccasion slippers for men that make a nice gift too.

Since English is not his first language, he doesn't read much of anything other than the newspaper at work. He's not a macho man so any of those other things wouldn't appeal to him. I did ask him about moccasins once and he shrugged. He has his "PEI Slippers" - those are slippers knitted by the old ladies where he comes from. If I give him moccasins I'm afraid he'll mow the lawn in them. LOL!

For starters, I would fix him the best, most romantic meal you can conjure up. Set the table with candles, a single rose stem and give it your best shot. Then, I would buy him something that he can keep and treasure probably. Maybe a new watch, or item of jewellery, or even buy a photo album and fill it with pics of you and he in years past, and pics of your kids, which I gather you have if you received a Mothers' Day Gift. Something he can keep, with memories. I hope this helps... I have no idea how much money you have to spend, so some suggestions may be outside your means, but I'm sure you'll come up with something he loves. Brightest Blessings.

My husband isn't even romantic. He wouldn't appreciate a romantic dinner. I didn't think he would appreciate the journal I put together for our anniversary - for a year I wrote day-to-day happenings between us and how he made me feel, as well as quotes from songs and the bible. He seemed to like that.

If you can find something related to a favorite hobby of his I think those are best. For example a new frame backpack or tent for camping, a book on a favorite subject, lessons for a musical instrument or new language, or tickets to an event or location he would enjoy. Something he would love to have but hasn't bought for himself yet.

does your husband have any hobbies!! mine loves to play golf so when i have no clue i call up the closet friends (golf buddies) he has and ask them to go shopping with me and have them pick him out a new golf club or something of the golf nature. I call his buddies because i know nothing about golf but he always seems to love the gifts!! it always works for me maybe you can give that a shot!!

What was the first present that you ever got for your husband? Was it a long time ago? Maybe it would be nice to try adn remember what it was and try and seek it out for him.

I think gifts that are "personalized" make the nicest gifts. For instance, if he is really into sports buy him two tickets to a baseball or hockey game. If you aren't a sports fan let him go with his best friend. I think all guys would like a nice watch (tag heurer makes nice ones although they are a bit pricey). Swiss Army makes nice affordable watched. Most guys like electronic items too. Does he commute to work on the train/subway?.. I would suggest an ipod. Cameras are always a nice gift.. they are making them smaller and more high tech as the years go on. Does he have every electronic item already.. get him a best buy gift card and let him pick out his own. Last resort.. Borders gift cards are always a most welcome gift (for men or women).
