We Can Be Forever Young At Heart!!

Youth is not a time of life it is a state of mind, it is a temper of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions, a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over love of ease. Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years; people grow old only by deserting their ideals. Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, doubt, self-distrust, fear and despair these are the long, long years that bow the head and turn the growing spirit back to dust. Whether seventy or sixteen, there is in every being's heart the love of wonder, the sweet amazement at the stars and starlike things and thoughts, the undaunted challenge of events, the unfailing childlike appetite for what next, and the joy and the game of life. You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear, as young as your hope, as old as your despair. So long as your heart receives messages of beauty, cheer, courage, grandeur and power from the earth, from man and from the Infinite, so long you are young. When the wires are all down and all the innermost core of your heart is covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then you are grown old indeed and may God have mercy on your soul. This was written by me personally for my wonderful friends that need to be uplifted in their own lives and they know exactly who they are I love all my friends on mylot and I have always tried to support their discussions and they have helped me a lot as well I love you all and hope and pray that your lives will be fulfilled with joy and inspiration xxx

O wow Kathy such a well thought out, well atriculated post. I could not agree more a person could only be as young as he thinks and as old as he feels. The heart is only as old as you feel and not as old as you have lived. If in my heart I can love & forgive people, have the appetite to meet and make new friends, in my mind accept new designs and challenges, with my hands work on new and different projects. If we never close our minds and hearts to new ideas then I feel we can not grow old. One shall have found the fountain of youth if one can in themselves not supress their youthfulness and the childlike quality to learn and discover new things all the time. Thanks for the post. :)

Honey, I do agree with you to a point. When I get out of bed in the morning, my body screams "so you think you are young do you? Then why are you taking so long to get up and hurt so much?" :)

Sweetie, well yes I will agree with you to in regards to our bodies hurting but I get up at 2 a.m. every morning so I do not find this a problem, but we should always try to stay young at heart. xx

how true this is my friend , My eldest son is always asking me when I am going to grow up as I am always laughing and joking ( even though I don't always feel like it ) I think if you start getting depressed then you depress all of them around you , I am always taken as younger than my age and I put this down to being young at heart , I play with my grandchildren with their toys and I don't care who sees me as my neighbours all know me well , I think if you laugh and smile you make those around you laugh and smile too and it is much better tan sitting in a corner crying , My hubby has white hair and he says it is a sign of sophistication lol , I think its lovely anyway xxxxx

Thank you Kathy for that wonderful piece of inspiration, and every word of it is so true. It must have taken a great deal of time and thought. I'm sure it did it's job and uplifted some mylotters who have been feeling down lately. We appreciate your thoughtfulness and understanding - thankyou again.
