1. Vitamin A Important in Ear Development Researchers studying the effects of Vitamin A on mouse embryos say their study indicates there may be benefits to pregnant women taking supplements of the vitamin. In the study, the researchers wanted to see when, where and how much retinoic acid a compound derived from Vitamin A is needed for normal infant development. Tests showed the effects of retinoic acid treatment on mouse embryos that lacked a gene, Hoxa1, that is needed for the proper development of the inner ear. 2. Schmooze Your Way To The Top Office socializing is a good thing. If you're notorious for meandering down the hall to hang in front of the marketing department's water fountain, you're doing a good act. It's not goofing off if it's networking and it can help your career. Researchers found that office workers who take the time to venture out of their departments for a chat are likely to receive better evaluations from their bosses. The researchers say these cross-pollinators are able to bring fresh ideas to their departments and know how to act on them.
