We had a cat, it never catch rats, of late most the cat no more eats rat.Other foods may be readily available, bcoz of that rats are making an havoc all our place, recently we put rice covered with poison but what has done, they removed parts and kept it separate and ate the rice, I think their IQ has increased nowadays, another one I saw catching small frog from the pond.Have you seen such kind of temperament among the rats.?

rats are extremely intelegent animals, why do you think that scientists have used them in tests for years? if you want a cat that will catch them, you need to get a part ferile cat (one that is half wild) normal pet cats lose thier instinct for catching rats and mice, they tend to only do it for pleasure rather than for food. also you should look into how to look after a working cat, as it is not the same as having a pet cat, they need to be fed by you alot less than a normal pet cat, the also need to be kept out side most of the time rather than be in the house. also you could consider getting a jack russel dog, as these are used for "ratting" sometimes, they are extremely gentle natured dogs where humans are concerned, but the go hell for leather at small rodents like rats, mice and rabbits. they are alos easier to look after than part ferile cats, and they don't tend to run away, as they can be the family pet too.
