My friend went here this afternoon in the office to save some files from my computer to her diskette. She feel frustrated when i didnt allow her to do it. I tell her the reason why. First, diskette is not guaranteed fine and okay after you save your files in there.2nd, computer will catch viruses so easy from diskette. I tell her to buy a cd or USB for her files to keep. How about you??? Did you still use diskette for your files to save???

No, I always use USBs beacuse their capacities can be HUGE. I don't really use CDs to store files though.

Well diskettes are now not the inthings as if you prepare a presentation in it , it never opens in the host computer. Secondly with the advent of cd and pendrives the storage capacity is very high with these so disketts are now I do not think anyone would like to use diskettes, I am surprised at your friend.

no i won't anymore... i am using a CD, DVD or USB drive to save my files nowadays... diskettes are so inconvenient as the size is so small... you can't save a lot of data in there... also, they can get tampered very easily and you might lose your data....

I use to use them when that was all there was to use. The virus thing might not be true, you can get those anywhere. Now I don't think they are as popular and the newest computers don't even have a drive for them. My old computer has a drive for the hard and the soft disks.

Gone are the days of Diskette for saving files. Not only a Diskette is limited by size but also it does not last long. I prefer to use PEN Drive for storing portable files and for back-up purpose, I use DVD.

i don't use diskettes anymore. i save my files in and have my backup files in rewritable cds. i plan to buy later the usb flash drives which can store more files or have larger storage capacity.

im no longer using floppy disks. If i have to save files i save it on my USB flash drive. and its much easier to transfer the files compare to diskette, or if its too many i burn it on blank cd.

I haven't used diskette for a long time, since 2000. Nowadays I use thumbdrive, which has 100x more space than a diskette. I still have a lot of old diskettes. Haven't thrown them yet :) I agree with Gwapako_28, viruses spread easily via diskette! Previously, whenever I inserted any diskette and ran it, the message "Threat has been found" by McAfee would always appeared. Eventhough I had deleted or quarantined it, the message would still appear.

i do use a usb drive. and a cd. and a diskette. i have to disagree as to whether its more easier to get viruses using a diskette as compared to a usb. the only reason i can say as to why we should use a usb drive is because it has more capacity in terms of disk space.(nowadays, 1GB usb drives is not that uncommon anymore) i you haven't been informed, there's this one pesky virus that is easily spread simply by plugging usb drives to a usb port that can force your drive into "autoplay mode". it's not the lowly diskette to be blamed. any of the three could spread computer viruses. am i to throw my lowly diskette away? hell no! if your PC fails to open up, a boot disk from a diskette is the only thing that will save you before you end up formatting the whole drive. :)

No, I don't, the other day I had to find a disk to use to do a backup for a password recovery and could not find one, I use CD's to store all my documents on and soon I will be switching over to a removeable hard drive that I believe will save me tons on purchasing of CD's.

No, I do not use Floppy Disk any more. Usually it was used when the other media was costly or rarely available in the market here. Now since USB Pen Drives are available in a Bigggg capacity and more reliable to keep the data, the floppy is almost eliminated. Even new systems are not having the FDDs. Yes, you are right that these are very much erroneous as well. Further with the increase in file sizes it is very insuffcient to work with.

Actually speaking, I don't have any slots which could fit in a diskette drive. I mean, the A floppy drive, there isn't any slot in mine. I don't suppose there are any companies, which preinstall diskettes drive, and very less people opt for diskettes...since they have so many turns-off in front of other storage deices....so I suppose, including me, many other people, do not use diskettes

floppy disks as they're called formally are not advisable to use nowadays. it's kinda obsolete now plus the fact that the drive readers for them are easily degrading. my floppy disk drive reader now is broken and i can't find a solution to it but to buy a new one, which of course will broke at a small time span. i suggest using flash drives or memory cards as they're faster and more durable than floppy disks. Let's use what current technology offers us! lol!
