I'm stupid!!!

I have hardly NO knowledge (when it comes to general knowledge) what can I do to improve myself? There's reading, but I don't know what to read or where to start. Watching the news is the same... apparently some channels are rubbish? And some newspapers are not worth reading? What do I do to start educating myself? I'm an intelligent person but I just lack information!! Can anyone help me?

I know lots of useless things but if you ask me about politics and things that really matter then I suck. I can tell you about animals, cartoons, song lyrics, music videos but nothing that will get me far in life. I think you just know lots about what interests you. You just have to find what that thing is.
