I feel a bit sad when i look at my son who has never ever known his grandparents...he is the yougest and so unfortunately all of his grandparents on both sides have passed on... i myself never really knew my grandparents either (except one)and feel aad myself that my son is in the same boat so to speak.... my eldest girl knew 3 of her grandparents and my middle girl knew 3 also but for a shorter time...i think both grandparents and grandchildren get a lot out of their relationships..i think for the grandparent it gives another meaning and boost to their lives and for the granchild there is that wwealth of experience and patience that comes with age..

You discussion brought tears in my eyes. Within this previous five years I lost both my grand parents. I had, even great grandma 10 years ago.

I dont have grandparents now. My last living grandmother passed away almost 2 years ago. She was 100 years old. When I was a child I had 3 grandmothers and 1 grandfather living. My grandparents on my Mothers side were the best people I have ever met. They were hard workers. They were always willing to help people. They went to Church every week, and let us grandkids pile into the station wagon with them. My grandma taught me to cook and bake. How to plant and take care of the garden. My grandfather let me help him feed the animals. He also let me help bale hay and ride the tractor. He never said No your a girl. My grandparents lived just over the hill from us. I was able to see them every day. They were a major influnce in my life.

I can't remember either of my grandfathers. One past away before I was born and the other past on shortly after I was born. My fathers mother lived with us when I was a young child. She passed away when I was about five years old. My moms mother passed on when I was about eight years old. I don't have any grandparents that are alive today but I do however have some great memories of the time I did get to spend with them.
