Hello austere!(",) I don't like to have a duty during graveyard shift because it's not only stressful but it makes me feel old. When I was still a student, I used to have a 11pm-7am shift duty in the hospital specifically in the Delivery room. It was a nice experience but I don't like the shift. I am more alive during day time and the time we had our duty, it changed alot. I'm asleep during the day and awake at night.(",) If you are a night person, then it would not be that difficult for you. God bless you and may you continue to prosper!(",)

When I was still at UNI I did the graveyard, or overnights. It worked out rally well for me because I could study, and it was also fine to sleep, they just needed someone to be physically on the premisis. I then had the day for classes. Once I had a family those shifts would no longer be any good. I worked a 7:30-3:30 and that was perfect.

that's great..but you see, with university it's a different story when you compare it the real world.. i mean, when i was at the university, i used to stay up late too, to do my paper works and projects, but here, we can stop, rests and have break in between our work, and whenever we want..we can quit when we are sleepy and doze off if we can bear it anymore, but with work.. our lives are at stake, food for the table too..:) i mean, performance is a big thing and we really need to be fully awake the whole time to do our stuffs..:)

i tried both.. but i love the nightshift more.. i dunno but it time at nightshift is faster than day shift (just for me) but any shift is good as long as you take care of your body.. meaning you need enough rest and eat healthy. goodluck!

yeah, i hope i could see it that way too..hahaha yeah, i think that's the most important part there, to be able to take good care of the body, take the right supplements too. right now, i always make sure that i take my vitamins everyday..that is really important for me to make through my work..:)

its alright, i dont mind if im on graveyard shift. ive been working for almost a year and a half in this schedule. i guess its just a matter of getting used to it. unless you cannot really bear working at night while others are having a nice sleep on their home. :D

hehehe.. yeah, but theirs no time to envy, nor is the idea of quitting an option..hehe i signed a bond, and that's worth 45 thousand if i'm gonna quit or if i will not do my work right and get kicked out from the company..so like, i am left with no other choice but be happy with my sched..my work..workmates..and everything else that goes with it..:) guess, prayer, hardwork and vitamins are vital and essential components to success here!~hahaha

Yes I've worked the graveyard shift and it was ok the only problem was that I could not sleep in the daytimes I would sleep for about two hours and that's it, when I went to work at nights I wasn't sleepy until about 5:30 a.m. and I could not sleep then because of course I had to work, but I had to change shift. The graveyard shift was quite, my productivity was great, and the time went fast, but, if I had to do it again, NOPE!!!

I think I will love a graveyard shift type of work. I had try working at night before and you are right it is definitely stressful especially in the first few weeks but eventually your body will settle down to the schedule. You will get used to it. Just take some bodily support like good antioxidant formulan and eat natural foods like fruits and vegetables. I must share this to you. In a study it is found out that the liver function of cleaning our body is done at around 11 pm to 2 am, and if you are not asleep at this time, the function is compromised. That's why it is imperative for you to take some supplements and eat natural foods. Don't smoke. Dont eat so much junk foods. No so much eating of fast (fat) foods.

I used to work a graveyard shift and I loved it! I am a night owl though so that is probably why :) I would not want to work a different schedule every week though, I would hate that.

No I dont think I would be able to adjust in such odd timings. I am quite a day dreamer and prefer to sleep at night ha ha ha lol. Seriously speaking , I am too used to the routine of getting up in the mornings and getting things done during the day time, so adjusting to american timings, as it is almost 12 hr difference it is said so here, is quite difficult for me. Actually for that matter even the UK timings are not much soothing. Once in a while working like that might be okay, but in a daily routine my life would become a living hell. Apart from that, as it is I do blunders during the day time, so just think of my poor boss :-))ha ha ha LOLZ

I am working in a call center as well, specifically here in Libis. I have been in the call center industry for a year now, celebrated my one-year stay on April 21. I am not really night shift nor day shift. I work during weekdays only from 3pm-12mn. I guess I have a little of both shifts then. Though there are instances when my supervisor asked me to render one to two hours overtime. If that is the case, I'll be going home to my apartment at 1am or 2am, depends on how long I am going to render OT. For me, I have pretty much adjusted to my schedule, 3pm-12mn. At first it was hard of course, but eventually you will get used to it. I am not a big fan of graveyard hours because i would already feel very sleepy at around that time and rather be home at take a sleep already. Now, since you are going to be in the graveyard shift, it will be hard to adjust to that time frame since you are not used to that (unless you are one of those whose day starts at night, if you know what i mean). It is going to be stressful. That's why i took the liberty to enroll myself to the gym. I go there three to four times a week, to escape stress and feel good about myself. You should too. Peace out!

I've never done shift work - I couldn't!! but I used to live with my sister who did and still does shift work. It can't be healthy having a sleep pattern all over the place, She never had proper sleep except maybe on her days off.

I've been working at night for 8 months already and I love it! Yes you're right that it could be stressful in the first few months but in the long run, you will eventually be adjusted. Just prepare eye creams for your eyebag and dark circles around your eyes. That's my little problem these days. But aside from that, i'm perfectly fine! :)

I don't mind working at night time, but the problem is I have a second time during the weekend. So, usually Friday I have to work day time in order to accommodate my second job. So, for my situation, I would rather work at day time.

Working night shift works well for use because it frees our days to go to Dr's and such. You dont get a lot of sleep though.

I have worked in the mornings, the afternoons, and the night shift on various jobs. I never cared for the morning shift because I am not a morning person. Afternoons would have been ok if I didn't have kids, but as it turned out, I went to work shortly before they got home from school and worked until just about the time they needed to go to bed. I switched to nights as quickly as I could. The night shift was my favorite because I am a night owl, and find that I am at this time.

i guess i'm a nocturnal person. i actually like working the graveyard shift. it gives me time in the day to do things i want. it's also less crowded to go to work or return home. i've done the graveyard shift in my previous job. honestly, i really enjoy it. it may take some getting used to but after that, no problem at all. hopefully you will get used to it soon. cheers ;p

Oh no, try getting a day job, please. From what I have experienced, you can never do your best of sleeping during daytime, amidst all the disturbances of the daylife. Also the energy levels on a night shift is much lower as opposed to the morning day duty. I'm speaking from personal experience, I'm not sure if this is applicable for everyone. Good luck, anyway!

Hi, austere. I had a job once working in a Industrial Factory. I would clean up. I ended up falling asleep on the job and me and my family was just playing around. I was so tired. I don't think that this type of job is for me because I can't seem to keep my eyes open. I am a sleeper when it comes to working a graveyard shift job. I can do it at home but not on the outside of home.

Wow! This post was a year ago... how's everything going with work? I've been working a call center for almost 6 years now. I am used to the graveyard shift. I dont necessarily love it, but I guess I have to do it to earn a living. Let me know how things are going after one year.
