Why does the add as a friend button vanish sometimes when you click on it?

I have found that some My Lot members (add as a friend button) vanishes when I press on it. Is it because of a fault in what I have done or is that a feature that a My Lot member has activated?.

You say, '...vanishes when I press on it.' Once it is pressed you have made your request and you can only request each member once. You then have to wait for the member to accept, just as I'm about to do now. Do I understand your question correctly or have I got the wrong end of the stick? Oh, and welcome to myLot, I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do.
