neck of the woods it is and I have been soaking it up on and off all day. And it's been a long time coming. (the sun) Anyway I do not use sunscreen in fact I use baby oil. I know this is bad for me but I have yet to suffer from any effects of this. I love to tan and I think I look better when I am tan and have some color in me. I know this is probably stupid of me and I will probably pay in the future but I can't help myself when it comes to tanning and soaking up that sun. Any feedback would be appreciated here. Thanks in advance.....

I didn't realize it till you mentioned it but I don't use sunscreen nor baby oils and so far I don't have a problem. However, my youngest daughter had skin cancer and the doctor recommended she stay out of the sun as much as possible.

yup. one can later suffer from skin cancer by soaking a lot under the sun. and here in the philippines, since it's really hot almost the whole year through, when going to beaches, i use always sunblock lotions with SPF 45. and on ordinary days, i just use a lotion with an SPF of 10.

I think you need to be aware of the fact that a lot of damage that is done by the sun isn't visible. I once saw this program about a girl who was addicted to sunbeds. On the surface her skin looked fine, but when they used a UV camera (I think that's what it's called) they discovered a LOT of damage. Her whole face came up black and that is NOT a good thing!

oh. well, i know lots of foreigners coming here in the philippines. they go to beaches and have some tan. and they enjoy it actually. you can also use tanning lotions. there are lots of them already in the market and i guess they are safer than having yourself under the sun for many hours. and i remember my boyfriend (since he is from sweden), he loved the weather in the philippines so much when he once visited me and my family here. and wants to come back and stay longer. happy myLotting johnson!

I am not a tanning person at all - sure i love to spend time in the sun, but just lying there soaking the sun is not my thing. i much rather swim, walk around or sit in a resturant outside with a nice meal or drink =) You should be careful with the sun, coz like u say - there are negative affects that might come and bite u later in life.

I wish the sun would go away for a few days and it would rain here. We are in desperate need of rain. It has been so dry the crops are hurting, and we are having fires that are destroying thousands of acres of land and homes. I guess our perspectives are completely different today on the sun. Everything tends to be relative. I am sure there will be a day soon that I will long to see the sun, but for now, I wish it would rain.

I am also from the generation that used baby ol and while I'm not great about using sun screen, I have given up that habit. It si so cold and damp here for most of the year, we really love the sun when it comes out so short of a threat of total irradiation, I dn't think too many here would agree to stay out of the sun. For color, I was given some dove brand loion with a little tanning agent in it. I'm not sure if the colour I have now is from it or just being out walking, but the best thing about it is it smells nice, and doesn't start getting that rancid fake tan lotion smell.

you're so lucky to not be living in a very hot country like mine. right now, it's about 30+ something degrees and it's so hot, you'd want to take a bath 5 times a day. when you're outside, you'd feel like, anytime soon, the hair on your skin is going to catch fire because of the intense heat!

Where I live in the desert, I must say I have had enough sun. I also keep my face out of it, as you will age. I look atleast 20 years younger, as so many people tell me, because I have always avoided the sun. I gave you a + rating for a fine post. Thank you, keep up the good work my friend. Stay out of the sun.:)

I absolutely love the sun. When I go out in it I usually use a dark tanning lotion with a spf 4. at least I am using something. It makes me feel better to use it and I still get a great tan.

My skin was tanner than now because at the time I lived in a tropical country where the sun always comes out even when it rains :) it's annoying but then I live here and I miss the sun so much ! My husband has to use anti UV lotion if not he will get sunburn really bad, but of course in my case I don't have to. I think some people look great if their skins are darker and some lighter. I see your avatar and I think you look OK especially because you are blonde so it's a nice contrast.

Tanning is really nice to looked at but when you forced yourself to get a tan skin then you might get payback in the near future and you might pity yourself about it. You must take good care of your health since it's only the most precious thing you have.
