In a Quick Poll tooken recently, 69% of those who responded said that they love chocolate and that anything with chocolate is their all time favorite types of candy. Chocolate has a long and interesting history on the continent of America. The Olmec civilization of Central America are the first group known to have discovered chocolate, followed by the Maya and the Aztecs. By the late 1500s, chocolate had become a hot commodity and by the 1700s had become a popular candy in America. In fact, the chocolate chip cookie was invented right here in the U.S. Some other interesting facts about chocolate follow: Chocolate from the Maya and Aztec, was used as a basic component in a variety of sauces and beverages they made. The cocoa beans were ground and mixed with water to make a variety of beverages, both sweet and bitter, which were only made for the highest noblemen and clerics of the Mesoamerican world. Chocolate is made from the fermented, roasted, and ground beans taken from the pod of the tropical cacao tree, Theobroma cacao, which was native to Central America and Mexico, but is now cultivated throughout the tropics. The beans have an intensely flavoured bitter taste. The resulting products are known as "chocolate" or, in some parts of the world, cocoa * Chocolate and cocoa have more antioxidants than red wine or green tea. * 70% of the world's cocoa beans are produced in Africa. * The average American consumes approximately 11.7 pounds of chocolate each year. Now thats waverage so if your a chocolate lover at heart add a few more pounds... * The botanical name of the chocolate plant is Theobramba cacao, which means "Food of the Gods." * The melting point of cocoa butter is just below the human body temperature -- which is why it literally melts in your mouth. * Christopher Columbus was the first European to discover chocolate. * The precious Cocoa Beans were used as a currency and as a unit of calculation in the Mayan and Aztec Cultures Richard Simmons the diet guru said he would wrestle Mother Theresa for a M&M and eats them regularly. And they found the dark chocolate is health friendly, the darker the chocolate the better for you. For all you health concious people, You don't have to give up choclate anymore because it is actually good for you.And it even lowers blood pressure and relieves stress. Nature's own stress releaser. So have you had your chocolate fix today?

Your welcome winterose. Have a good day..Now if they could just make a good fat free and sugar free chocolate candybar I would be in heaven. Thank heavens chocolate syrup is fat free.. I recently tried a new kind that was sugarfree and fat free. It wasn't the best but atleast I could have a little chocolate that drizzled over fat free ice cream or cool whip..yum!

I enjoy chocolate...I would not consider myself to be a "choholic" but it is quite good. The mexicans also put chili and cinnammon in their chocolate.
