Marsha Jordon is the founder of Hugs and Hope Club for Sick Kids. Every month Hugs & hope features new stories and photos of sick children on their website. Every month volunteers like yourself pray for encourage and send these children happy mail.
In 1992, my daughter Katie was born with a rare heart disease. Katie underwent heart surgery at the age of five weeks. I know all to well what it is like to have a child battling a critical illness.
You can make the difference in the life of a child.
Please send some joy to a sick child. Visit http://www.hugsandhope.org
All it takes is your love and the cost of a postage stamp to help a sick child.

This is wonderful Swt... I have already passed the page along and called my mom with the info. She lives in a retirement community and many of them make cards just for fun and no one ever gets to see them. This will be great, helping the older folks and the younger ones at the same time. I can't wait to get started, but like someone else said, I need to read the guidelines so I don't screw it up. Thanks so much for this, I would love to help.

That is what we are hoping for. My mom has already said she will make at least 10 cards a week to send to them. She is so excited lol. They just had their craft sale today so she was looking for a new project, I think she found one.

Thanks for the address, the website is loading up now, I will try to send a post card or whatnot to some child. I think it is nice to help some children if it can make them feel better. Thank you for your posting. Have a nice day.

I think this is a wonderful idea. And I certainly will check this out and send a card to them. Your so right it doesnt really take much to make a child smile. Its amazing how brave these little kids are. I hope your daughter is doing fine today.

That is so great!! I am going to have my boys make cards this weekend and we're going to mail them out on Monday. I went to the "rules" page for sending cards and i'm going thru it now, to make sure we know what we're doing!! lol. Leave it to me to botch it up!
Cant wait. I hope they like what we send :)

It's a nice initiative :), myself I'm more in favor of the so called cliniclowns (or clown doctors) but unfortunately not every hospital has them yet, it's always wonderful to see them cheering up the kids though.
We had a cards for kids thing going on here as well nearly 2 years ago, organized by the cliniclowns foundation. Within a period of just a month they received well over 160.000 cards and by that ended the collection counting, it was a massive national campaign with a lot of success especially other kids writing cards for them.
Of course it's needless to say that it meant a lot for the kids to know that they weren't forgotten by their fellow kids, of course the cliniclowns themselves got the honor of handing out cards to children all throughout the country. More things like these should be organized for kids in hospitals all around the globe.

I finally found the discussion!lol Took me a little bit to find it, but I think it was worth it. This is such a worthy cause and it really doesn't require you to do a lot to make a child happy. I think its a great idea and I have bookmarked the page so that I can come back and get the address so I know where to send some cards to. :)

This is a lovely site.
I notice that it is for US children. I was wondering if you have heard of anything like this for in the UK?

Excellent post! You did a very good thing bringing up this site for all of us to see! I love your determination in making sure we all take notice as well. I took notice and I have saved this site to favorites. It won't just sit there I promise you! What a fantastic ministry this women has started. How is your child now does she still have heart problems? I can only imagine how hard it must be to see your child sick?

Please accept my most humble apology.....I had to come and check out this website.....I thought that you were asking for something totally different.....I AM SO SORRY!!
I have subscribed to Hugs and Hope Club's Newletter and I also am active in my community with organizing things like this with elderly people who would love to make cards for these children..
I have 2 of my grandchildren spending the weekend and they are anxious about writing to a child or two this weekend or making them a card.....
I think that this is a wonderful prgram and feel badly for being so self absorbed that I did not take the time to check this discussion out sooner.....but I am here now, my friend and will be glad to do my part for these children and this wonderful organization!
I truly hope that you forgive me...

I found another site that is the same thing. Since this is very close to my heart as well, I went on a search. You can never have too many children to share a smile with. You can check out http://www.makeachildsmile.org
