It's starting already I just read about a baby forgotten and left in the car in Chattanooga. Tennessee. He had dropped off 4 children at school and forgot he had the baby in the car. The alarm went off several time because of the baby moving but he didn’t see any one from his office so he disabled the alarm He found his son at 3:30 when he got ready to get the older 4 at school. It had gotten up to 142 degrees in the car. 230 children have died in hot car since 1998. Every time I hear about a child’s death from being left in the car. .I want to cry I don’t understand how a child could be forgotten like that. We had One die here in South Carolina because mom couldn’t find a sitter so she took him to work and left him in the car in the hot sun. for about 6 hours.. 15 month old Timothy Reid is the first this year.

That is so tragic! I have three kids who are now teens, and never ever forgot one. I don't understand how it is possible. I'm answering this post directly from my email so I have not seen the other responses, please forgive me if you have already answered this... Did the child in Chattanooga die? It's just so awful.

Thank you for answering:) No; I cannot imagine it, I can't even imagine how uncomfortable such a temperture would be for even a few minutes. I hope the parent goes to prison for many years, maybe other people would take notice and be more careful.

it really sounds impossible that a child can be forgotten. i am a very forgetful person but, i can never remember an instance whereby i have forgotten that i have a child each time one has been added into my life. until now, they are all of age already, i still worry about them whenever one is out of my sight at the time when i expect them to be home.

I know what you mean about worrying trinidad, my children are all teenagers now and I also worry whenever they are away from home. I don't think the worry ever goes away. My parents still worry about me! lol

if the parents cannot be so sure that they can ably take care of a baby, then it is best that they will not consider having a baby yet. it is not that easy to be having babies. they have to be cared for at all times. i cannot understand how a baby can be forgotten that way. it seemly sounds impossible.

Yes it seems impossible to forget a baby and leave one in the car. It just breaks you heart when one hears about it.

It's good of you to remind people about this. I heard on our local news last night that our legislature in Florida has passed a bill requiring harsher penalties for people who do this. I simply cannot imagine how you could "forget" you had a child in the car with you. As for those people who take their kid with them to go shopping and then leave them in the car, they should go to prison. The same goes for those people who go to work and leave their child in the car in the hot sun. Shame on all of them!

It's something the father is going to have to live with the rest of his life. How sad for all involved.

It's so heartbreaking to hear these stories. I can't imagine leaving my son in a car, on accident or on purpose. I feel naked if he isn't attached to my hip!

When My kids were that age we did'n have car seats so we kept them beside us in the front seat. Probably more dangerious but we couldn't forget them that way.

How could anyone forget a baby in the car, it's too horrible to think about. Every summer you hear about this kind of thing happening.
