Why do we love evening sky and sunset, moon and long summer nights?

I like day light and I am very happy to see sunrays during the day…but it is something about evening sky…when clouds are dramatic…with yellow, orange, pink, purple and red accent on blue sky…I love to look at moon during long summer nights...... I love sunset when I am over sea shore…or in forest when red rays are making forest look like on fire…. I have tons of pictures taken at night…today’s sky was unique with so dramatic look…I love it….my sunset collection is growing…. What do you like about evening or night? Do you prefer sunrise or sunset?

I prefer sunsets..the colors and how they change. I might like sunrises better but I try to avoid early mornings if I can. Though I remember camping out on the ocean beaches when I was younger (way younger) and getting up to watch the dolphins play on the ocean at sunrise. That was always an exciting time. MMM...maybe I do like sunrises better..but only on the ocean.

I also love the rays of summer. It makes me feel so happy to feel the sunshine. I also love warm summer nights. The sunset, then the rising of the moon, the stars if we are fortunate enough to have clear skys. It is hard to stand outside in the winter and enjoy the heavenly bodies in the cold. It just seems so majestic and romantic at times.

I love them both, but more so when we are visiting our daughter in the Cape Province. The seasons can sometimes change about 4 times a day. And when you are all relaxed on a beach, watching it, it is amazing. It can be a beautiful hot day with an almost turquoise colour to the sky, 5 minutes later you watch the clouds come rolling in over the sea, bringing rain. If you stay long enough you might be lucky to see the sun setting on a once again clear evening. I also love the pink skies. There is a saying from North England. 'Red sky at night, Shepherds delight'. Shepherds are happy with a red or pink sky at night as it brought the promise of a nice day for them and their sheep.

Pola, it appears to me that you have written in your discussion my thoughts LOL. Truely speaking I love to enjoy sunrise and sunset...be it from sea or mountain hill or from the roof of my house. I agree in the evening different shades and colour of sun creates magic and an awesome picture. I also love to see full moon and keep on gazing that...and think wheher one day I can reach there on not. Do not feel ...that I am exaggerating...I am also very found of picture of sunset and sunrise and whevever the opportunity arose, I have taken many snaps and always enjoy watching them.

I've always been a sunset lover too....and I think winter sunsets seemed to be more dramatic actually than any other time of the year....Kind of disappointed with sunrises however..I mean symbolically they could mean the day's beginning, life's beginning etc...BUT...one time I was in Miami..my mom and I had an ocean view from our hotel...not I'm not exactly an early riser, but I would purposely get up real early just to photograph the sun coming up and it's rays cascading on the ocean..I thought wow--this should be really great..was so disappointed was expecting something dramatic and it was just so-so..And of course I love seeing the moon at night..one night late, I went out with my camera..I have a 500mm mirror lens and can transform it to a 1,000mm...I couldn't believe it...I was actually getting a meter reading through the lens of the moon---I know more about available light photography--but a disaster with flash or strobelights...embarrassing to admit since I've been photographing for so many years...

I like both equally well. I like the night time sky, the stars and all of it. The sunsets remind me that things come to an end. The sunrises give me hope of great things to come. You can find many things to stir the emotions like sunrises and sunsets and all the many other delights available to experience on earth. The soul knows the wonderment and beauty of earthly visions. You are providing your inner being with the experiences it most desires.

It's such a romantic and relaxing scene. The day might have been very hard, but the beauty of a sunset will change your mood to one of relaxation. I must say I enjoy brilliant sunrises also, but they don't have the same effect.

oh my dear friend, how can we choose between sunrise and sunset? I think it is just like choosing between mother and father when stupid people keep on asking you as a child: which is your favourite mum or daddy?? My favourite moment in the day is the morning..the morning with the pink fingers of dawn and the bright and powerful light of the new sun..but oh what a magical moment is the arriving of the night..the twilight when light is slightly fadind down and everything becomes indistinct and indeed silent and special...and when the sun greets you with its marvellous reddish cheeks....oh there is magic in the sky...

We love it because the sunset the moon and the long summer night are transferring our minds to an unknown feelings. All of those situation you described are situations "in between". They are always symbol a nostalgic goodbye. And we are after all romanticas. The sunset is the goodbye of the day, the moon is the unreachable thing and the long summer nights feel like an hallucination. They are all beautiful and things that we feel sleep out of our hands like life itself, and we do try to reach out for those beautiful last moments.

i like watching the sun rises or sets. the colors are just too beautiful not behold. it's really relaxing when i have the time to watch those things. i also like to watch the clouds on a bright sunny day, how they form those fluffy shapes. it makes me feel as if i'm a kid again, musing innocently at those beutiful objects in the sky, waiting for an angel to fall. :)

I don't know why, but I'm absolutely obsessed with the moon. I just think that the evening sky is more romantic. When you're somewhere far away from the city lights and you lie down and stare at the sky, the stars are bright and twinkling, it just gives out a sense of...wonder. I guess maybe because the evening sky is much more mysterious. It's magical. Like anything can happen. And you can see the things you never see in the morning like beautiful heavenly bodies... I don't know what's with the moon, but I just love it especially when it's big and full. It's like when it's a full moon, something special is gonna happen that night. I mean, morning is alright. I'm not a morning person, but I've seen the sunrise, and it's just amazing when you get to observe the first rays of sunlight creeping up the windowsill. It's makes me feel like wow, it's another day, there's still hope, I can make it. Sunsets I guess are a bit melancholic that's why they appeal so much to people. It's just so beautiful and really poetic. The burst of colors are amazing, and it's like the beauty of the world can be witnesses in those moments.

some days I am more happy to see the sun rise and somedays I am happier to see the sunset. I think they are both beautiful and that we should take more time to view them and appreciate them. Afterall we will only see so many in our lifetime.

I prefer sunrise and sunset like ordinary days. I want to see the blue of the sky, the red of the sunset. At the evening, a romantic with my husband the light from the street, the band in the baywalk. Walking with holding hands at the night passing through at the sea shore seeing at the view while laughing. Very romantic night..
