First what is Lice? Its a parasitic incest that lives in the hair and scalp of humans. The Politically correct term is pediculus humanus capitis. Another name is pediculosis.
They develop in three forms : Nits(eggs), Nymphs and adults
So for those of us with kids we know that school starts back up in August and that means lots of kids and that means HEAD LICE and lets face it, none of us like that or want to deal with it... THey are just not pleasant for the moms to deal with or anyone else. Its dirty and unhealthy... And, its extremely hard to get read of. So, there are some things that you can do to keep them away. My kids have not had them yet. But, I know that my nieces and nephews used to get them a lot back in the day..
Dealing with them once you get them is NOT fun. You have to wash EVERYTHING from top to bottom and get a special spray and bag up their toys to kill them.
Be sure to always remind your kids not to share cloting items, hair ties brushes or hats with other kids. Lice are easily transferred from these items. IF someone uses their things tell them to put those items away in their bag and DO NOT put on their body/head until its been cleaned and sanitized properly. You can not see the lice on these clothing items so theres no way to know so its better to be safe than sorry.
Remind your kids NOT to put their heads close to other kids. That is easy asscessible for the lice to jump on over.
Keep your child clean. Its best to give a shower or the bath and then a shower off. THe bath is non moving filthy dirty water they just washed in
Lice to not like dirty hair. if your kids go to school ,daycare, have a sitter with kids, go to the part or to the mall to the play place etc they are in the way of LICE.
Since lice like CLEAN hair you can add hair spray or a little gel to your kids hair after its fully washed and clean. You can use mousse, gel, leave in detangler/conditioner, gloss, fly away serums etc. A little will do.
Good luck and I hope this helps! If anyone else has any tips I would love to hear them

Headlice spread so easily and contrary to popular belief they are not a sign of poverty or being dirty! One can get headlice from something as innocent as attending a movie and sitting in a fabric theater seat! There are a few things that one can do to help stop the spread in daycares and schools: Make sure that there is a large space between coat pegs..so that the coat hoods do not touch. Make sure that stuffed animals are not present (they harbor all kinds of bacteria...in addition to headlice), make sure that children do not share hats, combs, brushes, sleep mats or other materials that have contact with the head. Many childcare centers have helmets for children to use while riding tricycles/bikes etc. They shouldn't share helmets!! In childcare rooms with cribs, the same child should use the same crib all day....no sharing of cribs! DRess up clothes should be washed between uses!

I have also heard that lemon juice will help kill them. I hate lice. I wonder if Tea Tree oil word work also since most bugs don't like the smell of it. Just put a few drops in your shampoo.
