I have been wearing contact lens for more than five years already and my eyes are starting to get really dry.. I wear contact lens every day when i go to work but on weekends, i wear glasses to let my eyes rest. I dont know if it's the effect of wearing contact lens for too long but my eyes are getting really dry and when i have my contact lens, my eyes usually generate "morning star" and when i wash my face in the shower, the water really stings my eyes. Is it just normal or should i stop wearing contact lens? I have tried letting my eyes rest for as long as a week but it is still the same.

i have been wearing contact lens for almost 7 years. i think i get my eyes dry sometimes, but when it gets dry, what i have to do just wear my glasses. how many hours do you wear you contact lens a day? do you wear you contact lens to sleep? you'd better check your eye to the doctor since you said water stung your eyes. it's not normal. :D one of my friends who is wearing contact lens got an irritation a few months ago because she worked in front of computer too long and she wore contact lens too. she went to doctor, doctor gave her some prescription, and told her not to wear contact lens for two months. later her eyes got better, then she's allowed to wear it back again.

thanks xiqechill! usually i wear my contact lens 10 - 12 hours a day but i dont sleep with them. i put them on before going out or going to work then i remove them once i get home. I also use a solution which i use whenever my eyes get dry in the middle of the afternoon.

oh sorry i didnt mean to scare you..well, it's not really harmful to wear contact lens for i have been wearing them for more than five years already but im not really sure if mine is normal or just in my case. and im also not sure if this is just the effect of wearing them for a long time, because i wear them almost every day for the past few years and sometimes due to work, i wear them for long hours a day.so, if you're planning to get one also, i suggest that you dont wear them for extended hours and try to let your eyes rest for a few days and maybe substitute it with glasses and make sure you clean them properly..
