My husband has a terrible habbit of telling me what happened with his saying what he was thinking but he didn't really say it. (I hope that makes sense to you) Like it someone said something rude he will tell me about it with what he wishes he said like a snappy comeback and then I ask him "did you really say that?" and he'll admit "no I wish I had" or "no that wouldn't have been approperiate and would have gotton me in trouble" He tells a lot of those sort when he's talking about dealing with people at the military base. Understandably you can't talk back to the higher ups. However it gets confusing.

Life is full of "what could have beens". If I had a dollar for every time I wished I had of said something but didn't; or came up with the perfect answer or retort AFTER the fact; I would be a rich man!! It is human nature though to always embellish in story telling. Especially when the stories involve ourselves. We are much more courageous in our fantasy worlds than we are in the real world!

Maybe it's best though, that those things popped in our minds later. If they had occurred to us in the heat of the moment, a lot of us would be jobless or missing a few friends.

LOL oh yeah! I am always asking my husband and my sister "you didn't really say that!". :) Then, they will say NO, but they thought it! LOL I have also caughter myself saying things that can be confusing...I now make a point of listening to what I say and clarifying that I DID NOT say this, but should have. :)

That is so funny! Yes, I know people who do that. I always think, no way did they really say that. And when I inquire further, they just are telling me what they wish they had said when it occurred to them later in the day. LOL

Certian people are like that they start telling stories which they will never stop if some body is there to hear.

You know what I tend to notice that when someone says something like that soon after they are placed in an altercation where they are put to the test and they fail miserably. I think it is better to just tell the truth to save the embarrassment.
