at what age do you think it is OK for children to start catching the school bus?

My son is 6, and he rides the bus. My husband works, and I don't drive, so this is his only means to get to and from school. It picks him up in my driveway and his bus driver is a sweet, older lady, who is highly regarded.

yeah I can understand you letting him ride the bus.. maybe I would feel better if I knew the bus driver, that would really make a huge difference.. Ive noticed that the bus driver is always different that is dropping the kids off in the afternoon. That's what worries me the most that each day its someone different.. I think if I was in your shoes I would let my son go on the bus with no worries.. Thank You so much for your comment.. have a wonderful day :)

Now days even the school bus isn't safe so I think that I will not let my kids ride the bus until they get to high school where they can decide on their own if they want to ride the bus or not.

yes that's exactly how I feel about it. My son is only in grade 2 and he keeps asking to catch the bus cause it stops right out the front of our house.. I just dont think its safe enough for him to do it yet.. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesnt think its safe to be doing so before the are at least teenager's.. Thank you very much for your response.. :)
