Why are Filipinos friendly people?

Blessed with natural resources in abundance, the Philippines of so many tourist spots located all over the Philippines. This is very much coupled by a very warm and friendly people always ready to flash a smile at the click of an eye. You bring a videocam and a camera, and here comes a throng of Pinoys waving and smiling. Amazing! Just amazing! Why? Because you can not easily find that scene and characteristic abroad. We are so friendly. Of course, as in everything, there are always exemption to the rule). But generally, we are really known all over as very friendly people.
What do you think make us so friendly to other people? How we came to be so tame? Maybe our imperial history? Or is there something more?

maybe because of the culture we have.. we are are raised to be obedient.. polite... and sociable (not applicable to all)...

I have an imagination that since the old times we are always conquered by different countries, Its the source of our being
friendly. When we make friends in a foreigner or filipino's we like to show that were trustworthy and fun to be with and also to show that were friendly not hostile to them.
We also show our friendliness through sharing, we like to share a lot of things like memories, secrets, knowledge,especially in fiesta we share lots of food.

i think its because filipinos love to be happy..
they cant live looking like garbage all the time..i mean, they dont want to have a bad impression..
tourism comes out naturally..^_^
but there are filipinos that doesn't care about this image that they're taking care of..like those snatchers when a foreigner walks by a street..i mean..please please be considerate..they make the country look better and these foreigners can even be a source of income for them in the future..

I think we are friendly people because of two things. First. it is beacuse we dont want others to say something negative about us and second we love other's company. When I was in elementary my teacher always tells us that Filipinos are the friendliest people in the planet. Well, I think she's right.
