How many of you go to a chiropractor to help minimize the back pain? I have scoliosis and used to see a chiropractor once a month for treatment, after every session I feel very relieved and relaxed. But now I don't go too much because the commute to the clinic is too long.

I used to see a chiropractor three times a week but now I don't seem to have time anymore. I was so busy with school and my finances are not so good either. Currently, I'm trying to do yoga and pilates to strengthen my muscles without lifting weights as we're not suppose to lift heavy things. Oh, I really wish I don't have scoliosis.

I also have scoliosis. Three abnormal curves in my spine, as well as an extra bone in my sipne, believe it or not. I've had back-pain since I was 12 or so.. but didn;t find out till I was about 16 what all the problems were. I started seeing a chiropractor three times a week. I went for that many times for the first three months, two times a week for the next two months, and when the next month finishes I'll only go once a week. I've seen a definite change in the pain I experience and my flexinilty. I guess deciding how often you should go depends on the severity of your condition. Next time you are at the chiropractor, ask fo his opinion. And because you have such a long commute, maybe you should try looking into closer offices. I hope something I said helps! :D

OMG! Three curves and an extra bone in your spine, you must have hurted a lot. Back when I still receiving treatment I was advised to go to the clinic once a month, the chiropractor knows that I swim regularly and she said it helps minimize back pain because my back muscle becomes stronger to support my spine. I still swim once a week, I tried looking for a closer clinic about 20 minutes away only but they charge double the price of my original chiropractor, maybe I'll just go there since it's nearer despite the price. And believe me your post helped, so Thanks!

I have a slipped disc and I went to a chiropractor twice because of sciatica on my right leg. It has been a month since my last treatment. I am feeling better now, maybe also because I take medicines and do my back and leg exercises. I take Bromelain, cod liver oil, vitamin C, St. John's wort and zinc.

I'm glad you're feeling better now. As for me I'm not taking any medicine for my scoliosis or the pain in brings. Thanks for replying.

A Chiropractor is a doctor that practices Chiropractic. Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches. Their treatment feels are like going into a massage spa, you will really feel relaxed after each treatment. Though I suggest you go to a Rehabilitation or Orthopedic doctor first to have the curve of your scoliosis checked first. You can find more info in this site http://www.amerchiro.org/level2_css.cfm?T1ID=13&T2ID=61

I used to go for chiropratic treatments about 3 years ago. Teh results were quite good because my back's scoliosis stopped progressing and is now stuck at about 50 degrees. The prescribed physical therapy also help a lot in terms of improving my body's mobility and flexibility (being only 50%).

50 degrees! Wow I'm surprised you didn't undergo surgery.
