I think it is not fair to vote for a candidate...who is buying his votes by offering money. His intentions do not appear to be honest and In my opinion this kind of candidates should be discouraged if we want to have an honest and clean fellows to operate.

yeah. i know that but vote buying here in philippines, ike cool hunks said, it's not new anymore. people here, due to financial crisis, often accepts money so that they can buy food. sometimes, i think of not voting anymore coz somehow, i don't know if it still makes a difference. =(

Oh! I did know that poor people in your place are lured and enticed that way to buy the vote. I think it is a kind of exploitation of poor people that you give them money and buy votes. deepak

Is that candidate running for higher office?. I am estactic about it since I have not dealt with such practices before even I had become an SK official before. I guess such type of persons is vote buying already considering that a thousand pesos is a big amount in our country today. But I rather vote for candidates that are not buying votes but those who have the capacity and the eagerness to help the people .

i have been waiting for that opportunity to receive "gifts" from candidates, but as of date i had not experienced it yet. should that happen to me, though' i will be putting myself in hot water and endanger my life, i will use the money as evidence of vote buying against the said candidate and report to the nearest COMELEC office.

Well, honestly, a thousand pesos is not bad. But does the candidate know your cousin's name and his/her precint? if not, then i guess that candidate will never know if your cousin really voted for him/her. I would probably get the money but i will definitely not vote for that candidate. Giving away money in exchange for votes is a major turn off!
