I got this in my email today. Do you really think it would make any difference to the gas companies if they sold no gas on a certain day? I mean they would sell trillions of gallons the day before and the day after. How would one day make such an impact?
NO GAS...On May 15th 2007
...in April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.
On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.
There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.
If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companys pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the oil industry for at least one day.
If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldnt) resend this to all your contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th"

Yeah I got that same email and I did not send it on. If everyone did that for one day I don't think it would make a difference. Now if people did it for a week or month then it might. I hate getting emails like that because people actually beleive them. The net is great at spreading "news" fast this way lol.

I don't think it will effect them. Too many people won't do it but even if they did they'd make it up on other days. Now if we went a week without getting any gas that might effect them. That might shake them up and make them realize without us they would really be hurting. Now I doubt I'll be getting gas and we can see what happens. It would be nice if gas dropped. Any thing that gets it to drop would be great but we'll see.

I dont think it will help much in the long run,but I will join in no gas day just to prove a point. Too bad we couldnt get everyone to go a week without purchasing gas that would send a message to the oil companies. It's time to ride bikes to work and car pools anything to cut our fuel consumption.

i think its a good idea, but the oil companies say they dont make their money off of gas, they say its the stuff we buy in the store that they make their money on, so people in america should for a week not buy one thing inside the store, that might hurt them more...who knows, we are as a country hooked on gas, we need a good public transportation system in america, like the rest of the world!
