i finally met the dog next door today..the owner brought him over to say hi:)
he is a papillion dog-my cats had been meowing at him through the window (he is so small, they may think he's a cat also)and he "woo"'s in turn at them.
i guess she noticed they were doing this.
do you have animal friends in your neighborhood you greet before you know the owner?

There are a few families near me in the CulDeSacs that have dogs I've seen. Only one that I know of. He is a Blue Miniture Collie. A very cute littlre dog. His name is Chad. If he is out front when I'm near I go over & per him. But now my buddy Buster is a diffetrent story. For the first year we had Buster he was a runner. Every chance he got he took off roaming the neighborhood. Leave the gate open and he was gone. Don't shut the front door quick enough he'd run like a bat out of hell. So in due time ALL the neighbors who Buster is & whom he belongs to. I've even had a neighbor call me at 6 a.m. saying she had Buster in her yard. He can climb the chain link fence. Now most people when they walk by & hear Buster yelping or howling they yell at him to shut up or to say HiYa Buster. Hee hee.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

yes, we have neighbors with several dogs (6), all with their own wonderful personalities. they get greeted (and they greet us) before we go up to the house... they get a dose of our lovin. Except for the one that is inside at all times - she gets greeted when we go to the door.

Yes, I greet my neighbours cats & her little dog. One cat is very fluffy & black all over. His name is Whiskers & I pick him up & cuddle him.
The dog is a terrier of some sort & her name is Lucy. She is always escaping from her oweners yard & often comes to visit me. She is a sweet little thing.

there isn't any animals down here like that but back home, there were several cats I would always pet and fuss over before I met the owner Ruby. Ruby turned out to be like a second mother to me before she passed and I would love going over to her house and have all 5 of her kitties go through all sorts of antics to get my attention.

He looks just like my friend's papillion Bailey, what a cutie!I do the same thing. I know about every dog in this town. We have our neighbourhood gaurdian Ceasar across the street, Tommy the cat who runs everywhere, the Ham Sandwich Labs from the beach, Big Ben that tries to sit on your towel, and the little Scotty that is the big cheese on the street...some of the owners I don't know very well or at all, but I know the dogs! There is Mishnoc (bad me on the spelling, it's the Irish word for courage) who has gotten me anew human friend. I think animals can be a nice bridge to get people talking.
