phone calls

I just got out of the stone age and now have caller ID. I recently had a call and it was my grandpa's number. It scared me, I didn't want to answer because I thought it was bad news, my grandmother has dementia and is in bad health. Thankfully he called for another reason and my grandma is still living. But does anyone else sometimes hesitate for a reason like this when the phone rings? How about phone calls in the middle of the night? I always think someone has died, two times I have been called in the middle of the night to hear the bad news.

I always panic when we get phone calls in the middle of the night, I always think of the worse situation. And sometimes I hesitate when certain people call me,just because I'm afraid they're calling with bad news.

I always think the worse situation in the middle of the night, for awhile we had a guy drunk dialing our house, I guess our number was similar to the one he was trying to dial.

I, too, have had a few of those late night bad phone calls...I am so glad that everything is ok with your grandmother..... When the phone rings in the middle of the night, I think that it is just assumed that something is wrong otherwise, the person on the other end...surely would not have waken you up...so yes, I get anxious when my phone rings at night. My kids know that I stay up till around midnight every night, so calling me late like that does not bother me...even just to talk...but wee hours of the morning are reserved for emergencies! I spent 10 years as a Assistant Director of Nursing and my phone rang all hours of the night all during that time...no time was truly "my" time until I left that career. I do not regret that time I spent in nursing, but have no intentions of returning to that hecticc livestle.

I never hesitate to answer the phone calls. I do take a moment before I reply on the phone, but I normally attend to the phone calls within the first few rings itself.

I have a high level of anxiety to begin with so the telephone just raises that level every time it rings. With our new phone server, I automatically got caller ID and call waiting (which I hate). However, the caller ID helps me identify who the caller is so I can either choose to let it go (telemarketers) or answer for a friend or relative. I do hate late night calls though.

Have you put your number on the national do not call registry? It really works, I stopped getting the calls within a day!
