Epic Movies

After the recent spoof called EPIC MOVIE i got into thinking about which is possibly the bestest and most epic story in history. From star wars to lord of the rings. pirates of the carribean to spider man? who qualifies to be have the title of ultimate story ever told? and what qualities are necessary to make the movie/story so epic! (personally i think the tie is between lotr and star wars)

I'd have to say lord of the rings is my favorite epic. I am actually watching the first one right now! How ironic. I think the story behind is awsome. Everytime I watch the last one, it always makes me emotional, even though I know Froto and Sam will live, it still makes me emotional when they think it is the end.
I have never seen Star Wars but my husband says it is better then lord of the rings. If I ever seen star wars, lord of the rings would still probably be my favorite epic.

You forgot soem of the great classics like Ben-hur, Moses, 300 Spartians and others Star Wars adn TLOR are modern day epics but there are soem that have really stood the test of time.
To be an epic it must tell astory adn stand the test of time.
