throw it away or smoosh it into the next bar?? I throw it away,I prefer my bar of soap to look, smell, and feel good, thats what is great about a new bar of soap. The old one served its purpose and deserves to be set free.;)

How funny this is. My hubby uses bar soap and he squishes the sliver into the new bar of soap. I think he used to do it when he was younger and it just stuck with him. My kids on the other hand if they get bar soap they just squeeze the remnant into their fingers.

Soap :X, gives me terrible rashes, hehe. So I prefer to throw even the new bar away. But in the past when shower creams and such were still less common a bit we used to throw them away when they were nearly out, or someone simply used to rub it all up.

I actually smoosh it onto a pumice stone and scrub away till the last bits have been used up. Waste not want not...I don't like to squish it into a nice new bar of soap either!

I have a bath/shower sponge that has a slit in it for the soap slivers. When the soap sliver gets smaller, you pop it into the slit opening and it still gives lots of suds. I like scented soaps, so that works well. Also, the sponge is great on the feet. I like your idea though that when it's served it's purpose it deserves to be set free:-)

I don't use bar soap. I prefer the liquid body wash. However when we were young we used bar soap. My mother had a coffee cup on the sink. In that cup we put the slivers of the bars. She had a shaving brush for the mug and we used it to 'lather up' to shave our legs. Very frugal of her I thought!!
