Cafe au lait.... My new love. What flavors jog your memories?

I have always liked cafe au lait, done the traditional European way, with cinnamon and hot milk, served in and drunk from a bowl. I just discovered Tim Horton's cafe au lait the other day. Although they serve it in a cup the flavor is exquisite, and it brings back many emotional memories for me because of people I have shared cafe au lait with in my past. What foods or flavors bring back specific memories and emotions for you?

I honestly can't remember having cafe au lait. That sounds really good. There are no Tim Hortons here, or else I'd go there and have one. I go ga-ga over Starbucks cinnamon dolce latte. I love anything cinnamony. I really enjoyed cinnamon all my life, and now I love coffee, and so I love the combination. Cinnamon reminds me of the cinnamon rolls I loved so much as a kid.

I think dolce latte would be basically the same thing, except in Italian instead of French.

I honestly have no idea. Could be, though.

I'm Canadian too, and I had no idea Tim Horton's started serving Cafe Au Lait. That sounds good, and I will definitely have to try it. Thanks so much for the tip. Since you're in Canada, have you ever tried the Cafe Latte at The Second Cup? I love that stuff! There is a Second Cup just up the street from my house, and I eat and drink there every day.

I'll do that. Our Second Cup is going to close for a week or two next month for renovations, and I'll need some place else to go for coffee. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not big on "flavoured" coffee, but if they can make good espresso and cafe au lait, without too much flavouring besides chocolate, I'll be very happy.

Tim Horton has good cafe au lait, and mocha, and their hot chocolate is to die for. I am not sure if they serve espresso straight up but I know they use it in their other coffee recipes. I am sure you will find something you will love.

Try your nearest Tim's for their Cafe au lait, their espresso, and their other flavored coffees. We don't have Second Cup in my town, I would have to go a couple hours to get to Montreal.

Gardinas bring excellent happy memories to me. Also, the smell of fresh brewing coffee.

Isn't it cool how certain smells give us memories? The scent of yellow roses does it for me, speaking about flowers.

For me, tomato soup brings back fond memories. Every day I would come home at lunch time for school, yes long ago we actually came home from school if we lived within walking distance and most of us did, and my mom would ALWAYS have tomato soup and either grilled cheese or Italian bread for me. On days SHE would think I should have a change I'd be so upset! LOL She finally came to grips with the fact that every day I wanted tomato soup and no I wasn't sick of it. To this day I love the stuff, although I must admit not every day of the week! LOL

For me tomato soup and grilled cheese or tomato soup and PBJ just go together for a very cold day. I love it also.

Popcorn is a big one for me. Growing up, some of my best memories are of my Mom, my sister and I sitting around the table, playing cards. There was always a huge tub of freshly-popped popcorn in the center. To this day, I still love popcorn, probably because of those memories.

Fresh baked homemade bread and cookies bring back memories of my childhood. My mom was and is a terrific baker.

Dolce latte would be Italian for Gentle or Soft Milk, so I am pretty sure it's the same as Cafe au lait or at least similar.
