What do Orthopedics do? Has anyone used an orthopedic?

I am curious to know what Orthopedics do as it may be another option to fix my health problem. I understand that they work more closely with the spine and bones than a chiropractor does. What is the difference between a chiropractor and Orthopedic?

You are thinking about a orthodontist, who specializes in teeth. That is a totally different occupation and specialization.

A Chiropractor manipulates the spine by twisting and turning you to get the spinal to realign properly. They can also give you exercises and electrode therapy. Which...I love the electrode therapy...it is awesome!!! :) But a Orthopedic finds the cause of bones problems and heals it to be proper. Often times, this is done by surgery...inserting of pins, screws, and rods. The Ortho is also who you see when you break a bone to ensure the health of that bone while it is healing. Especially children because they could break the bone through a growth plate that that could cause more issues with the bone. My daughter has scoliosis. And even though it is her spine that is curving in the wrong ways...it can not be corrected by a Chiro because the manipulation can actually cause more damage than good. So, she has to go to an Ortho to take care of the deformity.

I have never been given the electrode therapy, just the twisting and turning as well as being on a table that has a roller go up and down my spine. What is the therapy like? I hope that the Ortho has helped your daughter a lot. I want to avoid surgery if possible but will have to see how things go with my chiro. Thank you for sharing this information.

The electrode therapy is where they put these wet sponges on your back in certain areas and then they put these electrode on them to send electronic pulses to your muscles. It tingles at first, but then it because very soothing. I love it! :)

An Orthopedic is a medical doctor, a chiropractor is not a doctor. They cannot write prescriptions or do surgery, things like that. An orthopedic is bone doctor. The chiropractor manipulates and adjust the spine. I surely hope they can help you.

Hi my friend. I hope that you are doing well. I still plan on seeing my chiropractor but it is good to know there is another option should that not work or get me well soon. I am open to whatever will help me get well again soon.
