What is it that you are saving for? - A house? saving for a car?

You are earning ... and chances are you are also saving. What is it that you are saving for? Is it a big investment or is it something just fancy.

We are currently saving for my sister in laws wedding which is supposedly going to be held in New Zealand, however it may change and be held in Fiji!! Until she makes up her mind, we will keep saving because either way it will be expensive for my hubby, my son and I put together.

Right now I’m saving to buy a permanent pool- My daughter has been asking for one- We own the house and have a lot of land and now we want to put in a big pool with a nice wrap around deck! Total cost $4000—ish- I can’t see taking this amount out of my savings account so we are slowly saving towards it- The pool will be around $2000 and the deck, slide, table chairs etc another $2000. I’ll probably break-down and just take the first $2000 when it gets real hot out!

Most recently, I've been saving for the house we are going to buy next month. But I also have investments that are supposed to be my retirement savings. I also like to have money set aside for emergencies and travel. So I like to have money set aside so we can handle emergencies, and also so we can make purchases of other large items when we might decide we want them. I don't like living paycheck to paycheck, and I like to have a cushion set aside.

Life is full of uncertainties, and so I am saving for any eventually that needs unexpected expense like sickness, accidents, etc. But more so for the future. When I grow old, I need funds to support my needs because by then, I'd not be earning anymore...I don't want to burden my children and wholly depend on them. It would be good to also have my own share of some expenses, especially medicine. I guess that when one is old, the body weakens and needs some medicines for sustainance.

Saving?? What's that? Ever since my husband's pay was cut we are barely making ends meet. I still have not be able to find a job to make up the differenct. If I did have money I would be saving for retirement since we dont have any retirement plan at his work.

I have 2 main things I am earning money for. One is to pay off my student loans. And the second and most important thing is to be able to start a savings fund for my daughter. I would like to have enough saved up for her to be able to pay for college without the worry of having to take out loans. College is so expensive now, I could only imagine how expensive it will be when she is in college.

I save for alot of things. One being to have money when I am older and unable to work. Another reason is for buying presents for other people. Such as birthday and Christmas. I feel that I have everything that I need right now so I save money just in case something comes along my way that I feel I need or want. It is always good just to save for the future.
