I noticed lately that there are posts here that enjoined mylotters to reply on their posts and anyone who can guess to what the poster is asking can be marked as best response. Is it right to use the BR as marketing strategy? Is it just like a contest that the prize is BR? Just wondering....

I am still seeing posts that are just made by the discussions starter, to just have someone agree with their sentiments. Again, mylot members that are new here should pay attention to what the Best Response is used for and not to simply award it to someone just because they agree with what is said and/or that someone is your friend or have to give something in return. BR's are given to those who deserves it, to those who responded with all their effort, gave their best and given some added informations about the topic.

First, tammyr is right in what she had said about starting discussions to try to get plus ratings from people & ... well - like she said. The Best Response is actually what you feel is the best response of the responses people posted in your discussion. I don't really start many discussions, but I usually wait at least a month or longer, & depending on how many responses there are, I would try to see which one is the best. Best as in, most informative, qualitative, ... I don't know if the responder with the best response gets any kind of bonus though.

Actually Julie it is against the guidelines to do something like that. I believe that would be included in this "don't", from the guidelines here: http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx Post discussions soliciting a response for a response for example “+” rating for a response. These are against our terms and will be deleted. So I guess they should be reported.
