the best tools that ever i know about repairing bad harddisk is using spinrite, as long the harddisk is still know by the bios pc, but if the bios is already not knowing your tipe and size harddisk, then a temporer way is to store in refrigator about 1 to 3 hours, i have a harddrive that was cannot recoqnize in bios then i follow my friend sugestion to store in refrigator, and it work the harddisk is recognize in the bios and the windos can read it also, then as soon as possible i backup the drive and buying a new harddrive, because if your harddisk already broken and must be repair with than solution it will soon cannot be used again I think the price of a new harddrive is not very expensive compared to the value of the data that stored into the harddisk in my country to restore 80GB harddrive it cost Rp1,200,000 ( about $133,3 ), it take sometimes also to recovered the data, it takes about 1 -2 month, they give me a new harddrive and the data that recovered from my old harddrive, but it also say that the data that recovered maybe not always complete recovered and also maybe cannot be read because some of the data still cannot be recovered, but the best is the lost is not very big if you compare it with the lost of all your data, in my case almost 85% of all my data was recovered
