How to live a happy life?

It is funny what in life makes us happy as we get older. I can remember as a child wanting to make the most money, have the most expensive cars and gadgets, and have the billion dollar home on a lake somewhere while living in a fabulous studio apartment in the city. Maybe some of that would really make us happy, but where is any of the above without the friends and family to share? From the time I was 7 years old I wanted to become a corporate attorney in New York. I never wanted to get married or have children. I finished college and decided to hold off on law school. I am now married with four wonderful children. I home school them and we live in a great home that needs work and we drive regular vehicles. My husband works very hard but comes home to us every day. My children have great gadgets and nice clothes but they don't care about them as much as I did. Over the years I realize that happiness is what you make of it. Money cannot buy it! Money is fun, but not the foundation of our lives.
