I have gray hair so I have dyed it for a long time. It was always light brown or reddish, a couple years ago my hubby suggested blue/black. I died it and then thought I would like it lighter. Now I am stuck with black. I have tried bleaching it. I have tried to go gradually lighter and it hasn't worked. Now I want to be brown again. Has anyone done this and then wanted to lighten up? Do I have to pay a fortune to a proffessional or is it possible to do a home fix?

well black is a good color but only if its natural but u should not experiment with the color of the hairs whereas highlighting is better than coloring the hairs from foot to toe. you should stick to the natural color and go to a specialist as hair color can also be harmful to the hairs and the scalp best of luck for the color and hairs.

I do love black hair but now I want to go back to something more natural. The black makes me look pale. I'd love highlights but nothing penetrates this black!

You seem a person who has made a lot of experiments with the colors of the hair and it`s exausted now.Go to proffesional, it`s better. And never forget to treat the hair with masks and balsames.

I do a lot of experiments that is true. Sometimes they fail like in this case.

I dyed my hair black when I was in high school I had to go the saloon to get my hair back to brown. They basically bleached it and redyed it again. It took a few hours to do also and costed me about 150 dollars That was 10 years ago though i didn't want to do it at home in fear of ruining my hair more

I can't imagine sitting in a salon for that long! It would drive me nuts.

I got mine too dark once. I did have to go to the salon and they stripped it of all color, then put new color on it. It took about 2 - 3 hours to get it done. The stylist explained to me, it depends on what kind of color you have put on. I had used a permanant color. I'd also, done like you and tried to lighten it myself, but it didn't work. I can't remember how much it cost.

It sounds to me like I have made an expensive error!

I love my hair. Short hair for women often spells INDEPENDENCE. Women are always expected to have long, flowing hair. This is the traditional way of seeing a woman, like MARIA CLARA. I would never cut my hair shorter than shoulder length. I cannot sleep if my hair so short. I am accustomed to having long hair, the longer the better. I don't think I can have the courage like yours to cut my hair that short. Honestly, the best part of my anatomy, in my opinion is my hair. I am obsessed with always doing something about it.
