The Scary Cough

Tuesday I took my son to the doctor cause he has had a cough for a while. I thought maybe it was just allergies. Well the doctor said that since he has had the cough for so long that he wanted to test him for Whooping Cough. He said that there was a small chance that he would actually have it but rushed the tests anyway. so he called me back Wed. night about 6pm and said that he did indeed have Whooping Cough. of all the things that i have read about it, i was so scared. so me and my son are on antiboticis for it. i called everyone that me and my son came in contact with so they could get tested. so far no one else has it. my son actually got it from me. i have no insurance so i couldnt go to the doctor for my cough, so i just took some over the counter cough meds, cough drops and nothing helped. after telling my sons doctor that i have a cough that lasted about 3 months and is still going he put us both on meds. he couldnt have gotten it anywhere else cause i am a stay at home mom and he doesnt go to daycare. he is only 7 months old and up to date on all his shots, so the doctor said that the shots dont go into full affect untill about the 6th shot. he has only had 3. has anyone else ever had this? how long did it take before you got over it?
