When you were pregnant did you ever read pregnancy books? or if you are pregnant do you read pregnancy books? with the internet now, some people just go straight here to look up all the information, but i had fun reading What to Expect When Your Expecting and Your Pregnancy: Week by Week. it was a nice little something i did everynight while my husband slept, i sat there with my growing belly reading on how my baby was growing and such. it was such a nice experance. after i would read it would make me feel closer to my son. so how about you?

Originally i was doing a bit of readin & then i realised everything in the books were just all about using your common sense - so i gave up reading the normal stuff & just went to the Huggies website, where i could work out how my baby was developing! That was fun :) It was good to know where approximately the baby was in development, how big she would be & what new things she had discovered while she was in there & what sort of things she was up to! I guess everyone is different with pregnancy, i just didn't see a point in reading all the things that told me what to do - & those things were what i would do anyway, you know? Common sense will get you through everything & just doing what's right always worked for us!

Oh, my midwife & the local nurses also said that what you read you should only take with a pinch of salt coz a lot of the time, they tell you things & they can get you worried about nothing! People tend to read too much in to things & worry themselves over nothing!

We are reading: Gentle Birth, Doulas, What to Expect while Expecting, Pregnancy Week by Week, Birthing from within and a lot other "homebirth" type books.

I read and read and read, And was excited with each weekly update, But when ever I developed a new question, like a bizarre rash on my belly and the itching and cramping in my lower legs, I never got the answer I was looking for, same with the what to expect in the first years... My daughter developed blood blisters on her gums with every new tooth she got, I freaked out when I saw the first one, the book said nothing, but the doctor said it was normal for some children to develope these blisters..Too weird.. So I decided, that I picked up the wrong manuals for the model type children I had brought home... But then I'm not too surprized I always seem to get the wrong manual with everything I get..

I am 38 weeks pregnant. I like to read information on the internet most of all. During early pregnancy I bought a few magazines about pregnancy and birth. I joined a National Childbirth Trust class for pregnant women and their partners. The lady running this was very kind. She gave us some many useful leaflets. I sometimes get pregnancy books from my local library. I agree with you that the book What to Expect When You Are Expecting is very good indeed. It is amazing to follow the development of your baby.

I had a ton of pregnancy books with my first pregnancy. Probably twenty or more. I prefer to have too much information if at all possible. Of course, I was hooked to the internet on a daily basis about it as well. I really liked What to Expect and Your Pregnancy:Week by Week. I also really like A Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy since it was absolutely hillarious! With my second pregnancy I did all of my researching and chatting online. I had built online relationships by that point that helped me out more than the books.

Yes, I did read pregnancy books. In fact, the books you mentioned are the ones I read faithfully almost daily. I enjoyed the books better than using the internet because I could relax more. I read those books with all 3 of my pregnancies and they helped each time!

I used to read heaps of pregnancy books. I also loved those new mum type magazines. I read the lot. My Doctor wasn't really keen on preghnant women reading all this, as it gave women "confused " knowledge, without having all the training. I don't know if I agree with this. I read everything I could lay my hands on as I found it fascinating!

I had three pregnancy books that I read while I was pregnant. I also spent A LOT of time online looking stuff up. During his first year, I read 5 different books about what age they generally reach milestones, etc. Two of them were week by week, two were month by month, and the other one was basically just general information. I also have one for the second year that I've already read once (my son is 15 months). I am reading it again, this time slower so I kind of know what is expected at this point in his life. I also have 4 different parenting/baby magazine subscriptions that I've had since I was pregnant. I've always loved to read, though. And now that I'm home all the time, I have a little more time to do it.

with my first baby i read everythingg i could and attended seminars on how to take care of myself and the baby. The internet is also very helpful to gain more knowledge and with so many websites to visit about pregnancy and the babies. I think i am more knowlegeable now because of those experience and did not really believe on what the old ladies told me..like the traditional beliefs...no offense their.

I was in the military overseas when I first found out about my impending pregnancy, and the book that did for me was What to Expect When Your Expecting; It was a tremendous help for me while pregnant with my eldest daughter. I bought it around July, 1989 after I found out and it was great. I also bought the one as to what the baby does month by month and that was helpful after I had her.

I did both, when I was laid up on bed rest I couldn't get to the pc so I read two different pregnancy books, now that I have the baby I also have two books for her first year of development and get updates monthly from a few websites. Its nice to keep informed and it makes having a baby that much more amazing to know okay this week she develops her brain and eyes, she can burp, etc.

Due to the fact that all pregnancies are different I was a firm reader of "What to Expect When You're Expecting". I call it the pregnant womans bible. It gives so much helpful information. I can't recall one time that the book couldn't answer my question or tell me where to get the answer. And everytime someone I know is pregnant I buy them the book or let them borrow mine.

I had a pregnancy book and I swear I kept it beside me at all times. I was constantly looking up things, I loved it. If I was to have another I would get one again and I think I would use the internet a lot too.
