Do you use your mobile phone while driving ? Have you ever witnessed someone else doing it ? Do you consider this to be dangerous or do you feel that if one is compentent they can do both ? Do you believe a law should be passed to prevent other's from using their mobile while driving , would you support this , why or why not ?

First of all, we don't need any more laws. Yes, people using cell phones while driving can be dangerous. But so can people singing along with their radios, turning around & talking with their passengers, etc. I would prefer to encourage people to use common sense while driving and let the police go after real criminals.

That's true but cell phones ban are the only that you can enforce easily. Some cars have the radio buttons on the driving wheel so there is no need to take your hands off it.

Before I give my opinion, I must tell you that I do have a mobile phone and I love it. It is so handy. I love being about to keep in touch with family no matter where I am. However, I have seen too many people driving while taking on the phone. They think that they can multitask with the phone and driving at the same time. However I have seen them run red lights, cut off trafic and even drive off the road while taking on the phone. This is just a few of the things that I personally have witnessed. When you get a drivers license and drive a vehicle, you are responsible for driving in a manner that does not harm or put other drivers at risk. So you tell me are these people putting themselves and others at risk by running traffic light, cutting off other drivers and running off the road while taking on the phone. Yes they are acting irresponsible and peoples lives are as risk. It is too dangerous to be talking on the phone while driving. Driving is a task that should have all our attention. Yes, they should ban mobile phones while driving. If they need to talk to someone that badly they should pull off to the side of the road and talk. When they are finished talking, they can reenter the roadway.

Thank you for your response . I agree that cell phones can be dangerous while driving and although I have a cell phone as well , there is always the option to pull off to the side of the road if one feels the need to talk at that moment . Mobile phones are such a part of our lives now but can be a danger on the road . You brought up a good point when you mentioned that driving is a task taht should have all our attention as this is so true .

From what I understand, it is banned here. Handsfree is still allowed at the moment. Of course talking on the phone while driving is dangerous. :P

It is banned in our city but still people use the mobile phones while driving as the police is not strict in enforcing the law.Not only people who are in a car but I have seen many people who are on two wheelers taking on mobile phones while moving , it is really very very dangerous , much more then talking while driving a car. It can work on roads with lesser traffic but it can be dangerous on busy roads as I think our minds are not computers which can do multiple tasks at the same time.

I think it's the right decision. Because when you drive, you have to concentrate on the road. Otherwise you might cause an accident. But i'm not sure about making this against the law. First of all, people have to get and understand this consciousness, they should be sensible. There are car kits for mobile phones, they should use them instead of holding the phone on their ear.

You can use the mobile phone will driving but it has to be in the hands free mode.Because most of our calls are really important to us. I consider it dangerous .If you are using the other hand to hold the phone while the other one at the maneuver. And also when you use headsets, earphones, it is not proper too. This will make you unattentive to the sounds of your surroundings. This has already been a law on some countries, because of the high incidence of accidents while using these devices. It has been implemented.

it is good to ban it. its actually banned here in my city cause sometimes it's really disturbing to some people who's trying to get out the street and rich their destination as fast as they can. but there really are some drivers who dont know how dont care. i had an encounter before, i was following a vehicle who suddenly stop and drove that slow and it pissed me when we get to the cross line cause the stop signal flash and i was really sure that i could beat it,before the signal flash if the vehicle infront of me cared. so when it's on the go, i tried to overtake the vehicle and i saw the driver, texting while driving. what i did was buzz him and gave a hard look on his face.

Texting while driving is ridiculously stupid... and incredibly dangerous. That's all I have to say.

driving is about getting from here to there as SAFE as you can, speeding up to beat the traffic lights is not the best way to do it.

It is a law in some states that you are not allowed to talk on your cell phone while driving but it is not the law in every state. It is most dangerous when people are driving and holding the phone up to their ears with only one hand on the wheel. I have seen many people talking on their phones while driving. It can be very distracting even talking on the phone when you should be concentrating on the road. If I need to talk on the phone, I will pull over to the side of the road or in a parking lot.

Cellphones while driving are a mixed blessing. While I do not advocate people yakking away to their buddies and not paying attention, I do understand people who may need to be on the phone with someone while driving to the hospital, or in other such emergencies.

ABSOLUTELY. I have been involved in several near misses with drivers who were too busy talking on their cell phones to notice that they were driving in traffic. If you absolutely have to take the call, pull over till you are through talking.

I have witnessed so many people use their mobile phones while driven. This is real dangerous. It will make you loose focus and start concentrating on the person you are talking with. As for me, i don't use my mobile phone while driving for the sake of safety. Using your phone will tend to distract and loose focus which could easily result in accident. When you have a call, you don't can't really tell the category if the is a bad or good news. it can even be a friend you've not seen for years which could make you screem joyfully and in that seen you can easily loose focus, which could result in accident. As for me, a law should be passed that will stop the use of mobile phones while driving in order to avoid drivers from being distracted by their callers.

using mobiles when driving - legislation should be banned for the usage of mobile phones when driving.
Hello,i have never used mobile phones when I am driving but i always see people doing this. It is extremely dangerous to do so as you will be distracted when you are having the phone call, in one habd you have to control the steers and the other hand you have to hold the cellphones,it is easy to make a wrong judgment on the road if you do something else when you are driving, therefore i think legislation should be passed to ban the usage of mobile phones when driving.

I don't think that people should be using a cell phone while driving. Too many people get caught up with what they are discussing on the phone and don't pay attention to what they are doing on the road. There have been several times that if I hadn't reacted fast I would have been hit by someone who felt the need to be on a cell phone rather then paying attention to the road. If a person needs to take a call on their cell phone while driving then they should pull off to the side before answering the cell phone.

I use mine handsfree. I don't think it's any different to listening to the radio. Both take away some of your attention from the road. As long as it's handsfree, I don't think there's a gigantic problem. It's when someone is trying to hold the phone and drive that problems really happen.

With how a lot of phones have speaker phone and you can get a bluetooth so you don't have to take your hands off the wheel really I don't see why they can't talk on their phones. When my husband has to drive long distances without me he will call me to talk while he drives... He says it helps him stay awake and alert. However i do think that people shouldn't be trying to hold the phone up to thier ear or cradling it with their shoulder. I think that is the problem with it.

If they are using a hands free one then I don't have a problem with it. Most things people do with driving still allows them to be able to put both hands on the wheel if they need to. Cell phones unless you are willing to drop it does not allow this to happen. Hands free would allow them to concentrate on the road and not about trying to keep it up to their ear. Otherwise I agree that talking on a phone is no different then talking with someone sitting beside you. Also for some trying to find the phone when it rings, if the ring itself doesn't scare them, can distract them from the road.

Yes they should. Since it hampers traffic, Its stupidity as well. If phones have to be allowed then it should be integrated with the music system or Handsfree in general.

I do have a cell phone and I have used it while driving. I do think that there should be a ban on this though. I know that when I am on my phone I am not 100% focused on my driving. If a deer or a car were to be suddenly in front of me I know that my reaction time will be slower than if I wasn't on the phone. I feel cell phones are very distracting. I have witnessed many people driving while on their phone and I almost witnessed and accident due to a distracted phone driver. You cannot be 100% focused on driving while on a phone
