well i just noticed when i was in a bus, even though there's someone standing, a girl or an elderly man or woman, it seems that there's no one offering a seat for them, not even a guy. and then i thought what if i offer the old man my seat, because i think no one will ever think to offer theirs. But the old man refuses. Nowadays, guys don't even bothers to offer a seat to ladies or to old people i think.

It appears that courtesy has gone out of vogue. I remember my father telling us boys off (we were around ten) because we didn't help an elderly lady in our house carry the coals to her apartment (this was in Germany). And it appears it is culture related, too. Here in Mexico boys or men don't even offer a pregnant woman standing in front of them their seat, it's just awful.

here in our place, im glad to see that there are still many gentlemen out here.Although it's also common to see people here giving up their seats especially to elder people and pregnant women, it's not that common to see guys giving up their seats to girls (young and strong ones). Personally, i dont mind if for example i take the train or bus and no guy gave up his seat for me because im still strong and i can manage to stand for a few minutes. Beside, we all paid for the same amount of fare and they were the ones who got in first. But of course it would be better if someone did give up a seat for me. :)

Ordinary guy would offer their seat to a fine or pretty lady or hot chick. Thats natural of course! Most men would share their seat or lend their seat to beautiful girls just to show off. They might want to hook up with them or want to know the girls name. Men might not give their seats to not so pretty girl, some are reserving their seats for these special occasions. Hahahah When it comes to old timers, few men have a kind heart to give their seats to elders. Old man would not accept your offer if he thinks he can stand. Id rather offer my seat to old woman because they would really appreciate it and thank you for that kind offer. Thats life.

Girls and such I don't offer seats to, lol. Why should I? :P They are all for emancipation right? So let them stand. Exception when they are standing with a broken ankle or something and nobody else stands up for them. With elderly people it totally depends on how they stand, if they look like they have a hard time standing even when the bus or subway doesn't move I offer them a seat. Otherwise let them stand, they'll most likely just refuse it anyways. Hell many don't even like it to be asked because they think it's rude since in some way you're essentially pretty much saying "I'm not as old and cripple as you, so I will be able to stand standing, why don't you take the seat?" and I can pretty much understand that.
