Too old to go clubbing, I don't think so - LOL

Goth chick - Goth and proud
May 5, 2007 10:00am CST
My partner and I are off out this evening, the plan is to go to the pub and meet up with some friends, and then on to our goth rock club where I plan to have a few drinks and dance until 3am. While talking to a friend of mine this morning she said she thought that at my age I shouldn't be getting*gothed up* and going clubbing, it was the preserve of the youngsters and not old ladies like me. After I calmed down a little and stopped frothing, my partner said that he felt that there shouldn't be any age cut off for going out clubbing, what do you guys think. Is it wrong for the older folk to go out clubbing?

Yea. You are way to old already. Just sit in your rocking chair and rock. LOL. :P Look at me. 6 and in diaper, and I have already sworn off clubbing! I just be a good lad and stay at home, drink my milk, you know, along those lines. Can't you be a little good girl and learn from me?

I don't believe that there should be a age cut-off. How silly! Who would make the age cut-off? The clubbing police. Hope you had fun. thats all that matters.

That's as bad as my Mum telling me when I was in my late 20's that I was too old to have long hair. The whole thing about being a grown up is that you've earned the right to do anything you want to do (without breaking the law, obviously). Your friend should mind her own business and not judge you by her standards. Doing your own thing now, means you won't look back when you're old and infirm and think..."I wish I'd done that." You go girl! :)

LOL we did our own thing last night too. Played a gig at our locla pub and had a great time. My partner has uploaded three of his tracks onto his MySpace site, I am sooooo tempted to post the link on here so everyone can hear him :-)

I don't think there's anything wrong with older people going clubbing. I actually think it's kinda cute. LOL. Before, during my clubbing years, I see a couple of older folks in the club and I really don't think there's a problem with that. I miss my clubbing days, I'm only 26 yet I feel like I'm already too old for clubbing. LOL. Or maybe I've just outgrown it. I just prefer to sit quietly at home, watch tv or surf the internet.

*giggles* I never thought of myself as cute hun - lol. It's odd when I think back to when I was younger, in those days I usually went to the pub or go to a gig now and again. I thought I had outgrown clubbing but now I love it even more.

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with older folk going out clubbing, that is completely ageism! If you have the stamina to stay out to the early hours, which I don't mind you sometimes I feel like 65 not 35. It's a personal choice and if you do enjoy clubbing, you're not hurting anyone else, don't worry what others might think, nout to do with them anyhow, go out, enjoy yourself! Life is too short...

LOL yes life is far too short hun, I had a great time out with mates and dancing. Funny thing is that most of the others at the club are half my age and yet they are all good friends of mine.

I have never dressed in the goth style fashion. Where I live I very seldom, if every, saw anyone dressed like that. However that does not stop me from going out and enjoying myself. Sometimes dressed up and other times in jeans and a tee shirt. I enjoy dancing into the wee hours with my friends. So have a great time and show these people that age is only a stinking number. I know some young people who act like old fogies.

I will have to find a picture to put onto my profile, one of the ones taken at the goth festival in Whitby North Yorkshire, so you can see some of the clothes we wear. I had a great time last night, although my legs are telling me I should have stopped dancing before 2am :-)

older like what? I didn't like to go clubbing when I was young - didn't like the smoke, the crowds, the dark, the loud music then or now. And I don't know as I'd think someone my mother's age would like it either, but I know people in their 40's that go clubbing & even looking for dates at those places. If you & your partner like doing this, then GREAT - GO for it. Your friend probably didn't like it that much back in the day & is now using age as her excuse to not go.

You are probably right, she's using it as an excuse. Shame really as there are a lot of my friends all going along tonight :-)

Hi recycledgoth, i dont think theres an age limit for having fun! as long as you enjoy what youre doing... you know what, my grandmother is still going to some disco's and we sometimes take her to some bars and she never run out fo jokes to tell me us. thats why my friends love to have her around. so your partner is right, theres not cut off age for clubbing...have fun!

Hey, if you have the energy for it, I say go for it. We'll be old before our time if we always think we're too old to do things. We need to have fun and enjoy life as long as we can. Show those youngsters what us old ladies can do!

Good for you...go for whatever you like to do....many people are thinking that when you turn 45-50, you supposed to stay home and wait till die... People who say that are jealous, because they let culture to limit their life and desire... I want to play as long as I want and no one can tell me to stop...age is not the limit...for anything.... Keep having good time..:)

no way.. your not to old. my parents are nearly 60. they dont exactly go clubbing lol but they dont mind going to the pub and meeting up with friends and all. and i dont see anything wrong with older people out having fun and most of the time they are the most sensible so nothing wrong with having sensible people out clubbing.

Have a great time tonight! My husband once asked if I had noticed I was getting older. I don't rmember what prompted him to ask, but I told him I noticed when I was old enough to go to kindergarten, and it hadn't stopped since.

Naaaa you're never too old to go out clubbing, well as long as you're not planning to go to a club with all 17 / 18 year olds... Like you once said to me.. You're never to old to be who you are!

I say that you are never too old to go out and have fun! Isn't that what helps keep us young? Why should you be expected to stay home and be bored? I think it would be just awsome to see older people out clubbing and having fun. I say go for it hon! Screw what other people think!
