whenever someone reaches a hand for a shake ,you should acknowledge it by a firm handshake whether he does the same or not because it only means that you sincerely acknowledges his or her presence in meeting you.i do a firm handshake and with a smile and at times i do it with both hands clasoing his or her because i really like knowing and meeting people and i would like it to be very natural on my part to make that experience warm.

I like to give a rather firm handshake...I'm disappointed however when I shake someone's hand it's barely a gesture..and kind of soft and whimpy...kind of indicates the person has no character somehow.

I have a firm and strong handshake, but I am careful not to break the other person's hands. I hate when they do it to me. Why sometimes they almost cause my anniversary ring to dig into my finger. It is that bad, that I sometimes wish to go to the old method of bowing and curtseying. I do not bother with analyzing what a handshake means if it is limpy ==I figure he or she has arthritis and of course, cannot squeeze so well.

Mine is firm and strong, though not overpowering.
