The whole 12 rounds we see Mayweather running and yet he still won the fight. The fight was billed as one that would save boxing. I think it didn't do that, it was a boring and not entertaining fight. All Mayweather do is hit and run. ODLH is the aggressor throughout the fight and he wanted to get Mayweather into a brawl, but the latter was having no part of it. If De La Hoya didn't pressed the fight, there would be no fight at all! What are your thoughts about this fight?

I thought it was a masterful fight by Mayweather. He's a master strategist, and that's exactly what he did. He tagged De La Hoya and then moved, one good punch, score some clean points, and then move along. He dictated more than 2/3 of that fight... had Oscar pushed more consistently, then he probably could have won a few more deciding rounds. Boxing isn't always about flurries and punch volume. The quality was all Mayweather. The cleanest punches were all Mayweather, he got De La Hoya frustrated and had him stop jabbing. Mayweather was slippery and showcased an incredible amount of defensive skill and technique. Take a look back, in many of those flurries that made it look like De La Hoya was hitting him, most of those punches glanced off the sides or were avoided by Mayweather completely. For every 1 time that De La Hoya hit him, Mayweather either blocked or dodged 5 more. The Compu-Box stats proved it to a T. Mayweather landed more punches despite throwing more than 100 less punches. That was pure skill, a typical Mayweather fight. His fights aren't exciting, but they are always a clinic in technique and pure boxing skill.

Yeah typical Mayweather, hit and run. His defense though is superb no doubt but his fights are not exciting.... the reason why the sports of boxing is dying and this fight didn't save boxing at all as what it was billed.

Yeah, but it's unfair to bill any fight as the "fight to save boxing." I think that boxing has been okay, it's the fact that fights like this cannot draw any casual fans... that's just the way it is. You want to draw fans and have fights that save boxing? Look at guys like Manny Pacquiao and Rafael Marquez, Joe Calzaghe, Zab Judah, Miguel Cotto... these are the fighters who fight "exciting" fights. With Mayweather, it's all about winning, which is what you'd expect from a great champion.
